Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the best vocal effects on a Mackie CFX-12 mixer? Thanks.

Depends on the song. I used a multitude of effects on the adjusting each one for each song. Elvis had a real tight delay backslap effects. Most ballads just used a reverb - usually a med-lg plate, sometimes a chorus effect. There is no right one for every song, play with each, make adjustments, take notes on which might work for what songs or what they do. Listen to some songs & try to hear out what effect is being used there & try to match it up.

Hubby sings with delay, and I prefer to set singers for medium plate, very subtle. Sometimes cathedral is a cool option, depending on the song.

Doesn't everyone sound the same with all that reverb?

I didn't think it was all that much reverb.

that is why there are volume knobs. the effects on the 406m have quite a bit of adjustment. Im pretty sure I used delay4 on my 406M most of the time. I don't think I ever had a complaint. I thought Lordairguitar sounded good on it.
