Some people just will never get it! They'll defend their right to use the term "junk" till the day they die. And I haven't the right to tell someone they CAN'T use "junk". But I do have a right to form my own opinion about them -- and while it has been said that the supreme being "didn't make no junk", sometimes I can't help but wonder?

This was easier than I thought :D You throw a little bait out and some just can't wait to bite.... :rotflmao:

Opinions are only worth something when someone asks for it , otherwise it's just argumentative.......

Nobody wants to be told thier equipment is JUNK
People don't buy junk they usually buy what they can afford ...which may be less of a quality than something costing twice as much......

So when someone asks a question regarding a $200 piece of equipment why do so many want to beat their chest and suggest their $800 piece of equipment as superior??? Why not suggest and alternate in the $200-$300 range???
(KUDOS FOR LONNIE and others on this)

In many cases it's not WHAT WAS SAID ....but HOW IT WAS SAID that creates the atmosphere for arguments ......

Unless someone asks for your opinion or a What do you think type posts...you're opinion is not warranted ... If it is GO ALL THE way !!!!!!!!

I have a simple answer. My 1995 Elantra (considered junk by some), does the same thing a 2009 Lamboughini does. It gets me from Point A to Point B and back again. And isn't that what it's all about.

AAAAH yes , but the elantra at least came with a much better warranty than the lambo.
at times people want us to tell them how to make "junk" gear do a job that it just is not capable of. you don't try to make your Elantra go 100mph or corner like a race car. If you needed to do that , and asked us how to make your Elantra do that...I would tell you to go get a lambo.

Maybe if one owns an Elantra, that is fine but owning a Lambo is for a whole 'nuther reason...and it ain't racing

BUT if a person comes on the forum and says that they are in the market for a car to get them to and from work (for instance), and they've spotted this 1999 Elantra, and that it's in their price range, and it looks like what they are interested in, and are looking for some feedback, anyone with any COMMON SENSE would know that the person posting wasn't in the market for a Lamborghini.

Unless of course, you're either a total snob or totally insecure. The former doesn't know any better and the latter is afraid someone will find out who he really is. And please note that while I often use "he/she", in this case it's only the guys that want to find out who has the biggest (fill in the blank) and engage in the annoying behavior which was presented and denigrated by the OP!

Take a look at the CHANGE NAME discussion to see again ..How Arguments Can Start

Sure GEMINI has a history here  ... But it should'nt account for the responses given. Just takes 1 to answer rudely and all the same culprits start to jump on

PEACE AND LOVE

There it is attacking a person, not actually having an argument. I find personal attacks repugnant, but apparently some people still like to participate in that activity most manage to leave in middle school.

I was going to say something.... but it would have sounded like a personal attack.

Suffice it to say, that if people just respected one anothers opinions, there would be less drama on the boards. And because someone asks for an opinion, doesn't give a respondent the right to denigrate the choices that the poster is considering.

People have told me, in essence, if I cant' deal with the opinions rendered, don't ask for advice. That attitude is B___S___! Because someone asks my advice, doesn't give me the right to call them, in effect, a blooming idiot or denigrate their thinking/choices.

When someone tells me, and they have on this forum, that my business choices have resulted in my "leaving money on the table", I find that insulting. I view that comment as a judgment, without any compelling evidence, that I am a bad businessman!

If someone tells me that they "would be leaving money on the table" doing what I did in their local environment, I would understand their point, take note if their circumstances are different than mine, and think little more of their comment after that!

Eric,
I find that more often than not, it's not "what things are said" as much as "how things are said" on here that tend to erk me a bit.

Basically what you already said.

One word TACT.

The world has become so politically correct that no one is allowed to express their opinions any longer without being attacked for having those opinions. You can't tell someone that their equipment is junk and you certainly can't tell people that their singing is junk. That one really gets you into trouble. LOL
