If people in your area are familiar with your identity, why change it. I think it would cause some confusion.

Brand recognition and reputation are major items. If you're looking for a change and have a very solid base of folks who know your current name it's risky. Put together a SWOT analysis of the pros and cons on it and help muddle through the thinking.
I know that's all corporate speak, but it does a good job of helping you think through the angles on a problem rather than hit or miss.

possibly because the brand is associated with silly rules and hitler-esque control

If all you are changing is the name, I don't think it is worth it. Unless you're running from your reputation as company or want to create a new rep. I changed mine after sevn years of being StarMaker Entertainment I decided that I wanted to become more personable and be named after the reputation of my stage name.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. The only reason a company would even CONSIDER CHANGING THEIR IDENTITY.....has to be because that identity has a VERY NEGATIVE IMAGE in the community. If you think putting a new name on your business will change the way people feel about the way you run your shows; you are sadly mistaken. You might get some people to come in out of curiosity about a NEW KJ in town, but as soon as they see that it's just the same show with a new name, they'll turn around and go to a different show or to the show that they started going to after they got dissed at your show the last time they were there.
You need to change your attitude more than you need to change your name. A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet and the reverse is also true.

There has been no problem as far as singers..rules and such the only one i hear complaining about is those on here that dont want to follow rules because they have not grown up and learn you cant have it your way..as far as changing the name goes Im always changing things because ..it makes thing more interesting both music & visually for your singers...Gemini Karaoke has a very Good Rep that is not a problem by any means...

Some folks change names because they changed their focus. I have a friend that used to go by "XXXX Karaoke" but made a change because he branched out and started to DJ Weddings, parties and corporate events. Generally a corporation isn't going to get a karaoke company to do the sound for their quarterly meeting but "Mobile Sound Solutions" is a company they will hire.
Now I don't know any background about why the poster asked this question. Sounds like baggage that doesn't help getting straight answers.

Grow up? Hello pot calling the kettle black!
As for the good rep, yeah, I've been banned from going to your show to even JUDGE how it's perceived. Yeah, solid rep!!

I would change it.
“Gemini” kinda brings to mind “Cheap Equipment”,
at least to my mind.

As a general rule of thumb, once you've established a name and reputation, you want to continue that so long as it is overall a positive image. People hire often based on name and rep. Customers attend based on it.
Reasons to change are much the same. If you have a negative image, bad publicity or reputation then certainly you should change. However, that being said, you can not change the name and continue the same style type of show that got you the negative view. You need to change more than just the name. If you polish u a turd, its still a turd.
As someone mentioned, if you are branching out and a name change is required (i.e. more than just karaoke, and karaoke is part of you biz name) then thats also a good reason. Often restaurant franchisees use something like LNR LLC. or something of the like that is non descriptive rather than say McDonalds of Kansas Inc. as the business may grow into Pizza Huts as well or something outside of food even. Another trick is to establish your name as Gemini and Sons even though you may or may not have any children. The name itself lends to the fact of a longstanding reputable business even if you've only been in business for a week. Clients dont necessary know that. There are lots of naming tricks. Marketing!

I usually find that those people telling others to "grow up" are the immature ones themselves.
As for your rules. The feelings here have been well documented.
How about Third Reich Karaoke? Fuhrer Karaoke?

How Arguments Start
Gemini: You have to ask yourself ..Why the name CHANGE ?
Have you CHANGED the services you offer ?
Have you CHANGED the format of your show?
Have you CHANGED the host of your shows?
Then ask yourself WHAT is it you want to CHANGE?
Could it be your reputation? Could it be your show format ?
Do you want a better CATCHY NAME to increase business ?
What type of business are you focusing on ?
PLEASE TELL US MORE OF WHAT YOU ARE THINKING

Just wondering how do you get banned from a public (or is his private) place?
Do they stand at the door and watch for you?
I'm not quite sure what his problem is with you maybe you could open my eyes
