Yeah, I cought Angel and Sarah Smiles. Again, all of the sets (except SGB) mentioned use others' tracks. If someone has a track that is identical to SGB, however, they got it FROM SGB.

SGB didn't even come into existence until All Hits, Helluvadisc, and Dangerous had all gone by the wayside. Soon after SGB stopped making discs, Top Tunes started coming out with discs that also had many similar titles as all of these previous brands. A real cat and mouse game if you ask me.

Sing A Song Karake (SAS), which has a store in Hollywood, FL and sells on line, was offering a selection of AH discs for quite awhile at closeout prices in the store. Haven't seen any of them lately!

I'm going to throw something into this conversation mix for the sake of comparison.I'm a big fan of Doo Wop karaoke music and I have the SGB-067 oldies disc which is a great disc if you like this kind of music. That being said I also have the Music Maestro Doo Wop club pak which also has some of the same songs as the SGB-067 disc. If you compare some of the songs on each disc musically such as all the songs by The Duprees, and the song I Believe by The Earls and if you listen carefully to the back-up harmonies you will see that except for the graphics they are both one in the same also! I have always believed that SGB and ALL HITS were one in the same, but I didn't know that Music Maestro and SGB did this also on some songs.

I do not believe Music Maestro & SGB were the same at all. If they have the same songs, then SGB copped them from MM. Just like Nu-Tech (which was busted for using other manus songs around 95) was taking songs from Sound Choice & Pioneer on very early discs.

You probably know the timing better than I do, but MM wasn't exactly known for being legal. I am as willing to believe they copped them from SGB, who did produce a lot of songs with a pretty distinctive style. I think of the SGB music tracks as being quite a bit better than MM in general.

I have the doo wop stuff from both MM and SGB and don't believe they are the same. Consider "Who Put The Bomp". SGB's is superior in a couple of aspects, particularly at the beginning.

MM was out in the late 80's as tapes, their cdg's came on the market around 92, SGB didn't come into play until around 96 or 97. I doubt MM took anything from SGB - although their quality may have been a bit better if they had

I didn't say that EVERY Music Maestro doo wop oldie sounded EXACTLY like the SGB version, and I didn't sayanything about the song ( Who put the bomp?). Again, after reading your replies , last night I listened to and sang to every song by The Duprees and the song I Believe by The Earls on SGB-067 and the Music Maestro doo wop club pack version of the same songs and I still believe they are one in the same musically but with different graphics of course. The only thing I can tell you guys is to really compare them if you have them on both labels and then reply what you think, then if you don't think they sound exactly the same then I'll eat my Disc! Also, yes it is true that Music Maestro does leave alot to be desired on any type of their karaoke versions but with the doo wop type of music that is still popular on the east coast most times their versions are the only game in town on a lot of these old songs so they are like Gold to an old guy like me.

The doo wop MMs are popular in our venue also. Way back when, there weren't any all rock stations in our area. There would be something like the "Lucky Lager Dance Hour" for a few hours at night. I remember lying in bed with a transistor radio pressed to my ear and a pillow over my head so I wouldn't get busted for being up on a school night. I think the "poor quality" of the MMs bring back that experience when music was lower tech. They are more than fine for what they are and people love having the opportunity to sing those old songs. (I think I just did a "Karyoker.")

For those of you who are newer to the forum, or missed this info in past posts, or just don't remember

In Pompano Beach (Ft Lauderdale Area) there is a private club. It features karaoke 7 days a week and it goes on for about 6-7 hours a day. The collection of discs is at least 80% MM. Now, I'm not suggesting that MM is a good as any other brand. I am suggesting that the people who go to Singer Karaoke Klub in Pompano Beach go, basically, for two reasons. One of which is to sing/hear karaoke!

And when it comes to DooWop, IMHO, I am happy to use the MM tracks!

And TommieTunes, As to comparing the MM to the SGB track for "I Believe", I am sorry to say that my SGB collection goes up to disc #66. I'll have to look to see if I missed ripping disc67 or just, simply do not have it!

2) I was wondering about that. I only knew of the 66 myself, plus the packs and collections. I thought maybe I missed one? I did. SGB actually goes up to 68 discs! Live and learn. 67 is Doo Wop, and 68 is contemporary, with songs like Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway.

IMHO, you're most definitely correct about the MM "Velvet Elvis" collection. Many of my singers who prefer Elvis have their own copies of the MM tracks that they like to sing.

Just for your information SGB-067 oldies doo wop disc # 067 can be purchased for the great 1960s type price of $4.99 at www.karaokecdgs.com where their are also many other great disc bargains on discontinued items.Check it out. I have had prompt, courteous service from them.
