I have a similar need. I tried KaraFun but only edits Karafun's proprietary files. It would not even load a CDG file. In addition it seems geared toward song "creation", not repair.
I have Karaoke CD+G Creator Pro and it also is only a creation tool. It won't load current CDG files.
I found EditCDG but it seems extremely complicated. It's down to the pixel level for the graphics.
Is anyone aware of a program that opens current CD+G or MP3+CDG files so the words can be corrected or modified?
Phil

I finally understand how ti all works...sort of. The music is the music, I assume we all know that. If you don't post a new topic asking for explanation of the things you don't understand...because here we're going to talk about the words...or more precisely, the graphics.
The acronym "CDG" has "graphics" as the last word; everyone talks about the "graphics"; but I kept thinkg of "words". Therein lies the problem.
What you see on the screen when you're singing karaoke songs are "graphics" that are "pictures of the words". The are not the words in some special format, they are actually pictures. The karaoke player programs read the instructions from the graphis file (the cdg file) to know what pictures to paint on the screen, and wheen.
There are many karaoke song creation programs out there, free and otherwise, that allow you to create these graphic files. You load in the lyrics in text format, link them to a music file, and then sychronize when the words are displayed. When you're done, then generate a graphics file that has all of those words translated into graphical pictures and displayed by the karaoke program sycvhorinized in time with the music they are linked to.
The problem is, there is no way to convert the graphics files backwards into a text file. So if you want to change more than a word or two, the only way to go is to load the music file, load the lyrics ans start over to create a brand new CDG fgile.
All of the programs I've found, free and not-free, work that way...with one exception. EditCDG allows you to correct the actual graphics files; the problem is you do it by puttng pieces of graphics where they below, and removing those that don't...pixel by pixel. It's a great program, for free, that fits the needs of those who want exactly that...to clean up the graphics of songs they have. The originator of this thread is a fine example of that kind of user.
I on the other hand, wanted a program that would read the graphics files and interpret what the words are, along with their sychroization with the music, and allow me to change words or correct typos. As of now, to the extent of my searching, it can't be done. It would require the karaoke equivalent of an OCR program.
So thanks to all who fed me information; I personally will use my "karaoke song creation" programs to do what I'm after. I'm not trying to clean up a file...I'm trying to change it, sometimes quite a bit.
I hope this was helpful. To those who already knew this you are probably saying "well, duh..."; to the rest of us, you don't know what you don't know until someonte tells you or you finally figure it out yourself.
Take care and God Bless,
Phil

Man oh man, I reviewed my post and am appalled at the number of mistakes. Sorry for the difficult reading.
