Timberlea,
Is there really an Elsinore Brewery?

After a 2-4 of your favourite Canadian, British, or German beer, sure there is, along with Coca-Cola swilling polar bears. Oh and bullets that curve.LOL.

Hope they have INSURANCE for when someone leaves goes driving home and gets in a wreck from driving drunk. Since these people will be SERVING ALCHOHOL and CHARGING ADMISSION(essentially operating a small bar with no liqour liscense) they can and most likely willl be held liable for any damages, injuries etc etc.

Cue

Why worry about the "off-thread" comment about the $1 coke (with refills?) and the retort about how that kind of thinking is the reason for problems in Karaokeville, when this thread has deteriorated into a discussion of beer -- a beverage that I pretty much avoid. And notice the color of this part of the post

But. seriously, as with most things, "Tacky" is in the eye of the beholder. Furthermore, I think how the beholder experiences an event adds to or detracts in a way that produces a conclusion of "Tacky". In short, if the hostess had actually spoken to your friend, and.... your friend perhaps became endowed with additional facts, she may not have viewed the circumstances as "Tacky" and we, therefore, wouldn't even be discussing it now!

The stringent DUI laws and laws passed by those that dont even go into bars on the local level have created trends. There are many "garage bars" where neighbors gather and have a few then walk home. The idea of going down to a bar is totally out of the question.

It is similar to the old days where folks sat on their front porch and socialized. After years of hype from press BS kids are afraid of the streets and some hide in their homes. many college bars have been closed which resulted in block parties.

Some negative results:

A thousand fold increase in domestic violence. I come from the days when 2 drunks could go out in the alley give each other a bloody nose then sit there and buy each other drinks.

People rely upon the media for the truth and get just the opposise.

Obesity in children for they no longer walk to school or play in public.

These are factors which directly affect your business if you are indeed relying upon karaoke as a primary or suppl.mental income. These things should be discussed n an adult and positive fashion and quit putting the blame on others.

BTW could you imagine starting a conversation in a bar or even at business meetings where the discussion didnt turn into other things?
