Just got in a pair of Kustom 15" monitors I bought from Musicians friend seconds. I'm running them this morning thru my old dynaco 120 (60 watts a channel) and i've got to say they don't sound bad. Previously I've been using either a kustom 10" monitor or if i'm feeling industrous crate 12"speakers mounted on an amp stand for monitors. I've been watching these as seconds on musicians friend and finally got an order in.

For a bottom feeder ( inexpensive) speaker these will do fine as a monitors. They are rated at 80 watts rms. I'll be using them with a peavy 260 monitor amp which I believe is 130 watts at either 4 or 8 ohms. The speakers weigh 47 pounds.

If you don't have a monitor speaker and are looking for an inexpensive solution these should get you started.

I have the 12" version that I use on occasion, and I concur. I wouldn't use one as a band monitor, but for karaoke, they work just fine. I've had mine for about three years with no issues.

I use the KPC10M for a monitor, one or two of them. I got them for $30.00 apiece early in my KJ career, and haven't seen a need to change them yet.

For bigger gigs, I use a pair of B212A for monitors.

This is actually very good to have some feedback on these KUSTOM speakers as there are not many online user reviews on this brand.
However, what I can read from your reports is that the KUSTOM monitors sound not bad, but do they sound good in term of voice/acoustic guitar applications (karaoke/solo performance)?
How would the KUSTOM series compare to the Yamaha BR or Club series or they are simply not quite in the same league?

They are not in the same league at all. Only usable for karaoke monitors, in my opinion.

For the money they are hard to beat. I would not use them as main speakers although if my mains went down one night I would not hesitate t use them to finish a show. Think of it as cheap insurance. I've used the little 10" as Karaoke monitors for years and they have held up well. I would use them as monitors for any acoustic application. I will say that the cabs on the 15" are pretty big compared to my little 10" but they are the smallest 15" cabs I've run across. The construction of the speaker boxes themselves looks good and they have a sturdy metal screen across them. If I lose the woofer in one I'll replace it with a a peavey black widow as I have several magnets laying around.

I have noticed today that I need more power to drive them than my JBL's which were the speakers I disconnected to play with these.

All in all i'm Impressed. These are just my thoughts. I don't know how well they will hold up in commercial applications nor do I know Kustom's quality control on their speakers. But dang for the money they can certainly be used as monitors in a Karaoke show.

Ditto, I have 2 of the KPC12Ms used for monitors (karaoke) and they have served me well.
