I remember testing a BBE vst plugins in the past and kind of liked it at first, but I stopped using it... I guess the hardware version for live must really be great!

Remember Mickey that good tracks do not need it and the only way that the procs will have a effect on them is when the procs are over driven or severely maladjusted.

Now you just answered my question, I only use the best track as I am no KJ and my goal is to find what's best... no wonder my system sounds good

There are even and odd harmonics which are multiples of this frequency. The dominant ones are 1/2 and double the frequency . Compressed audio puts (holes) in he sound and attenuates the harmonic (harmonizing) effect of the overall sound. An audio proc can be used to restore and generate some of the harmonics lost due to compression. On older recordings that were processed with gear that had lower frequency response on the lower and higher extremities it make a drastic improvement even with wav files or coming from a cd.. I can play old old big band stuff and blow minds.... With a BBE 362 and an Aphex 104 which are used with the main inserts and receive a fairly constant level of input.. Another advantage is I do not use an separate EQ for in most venues it is not needed.
outside where reverbs are not a factor is the time to adjust a system, then indoors keep close to these settings.
The link is no longer viable but I had a link on Prosound web that showed in HHH stadium the last unit from the mixers to the amps was an Aphex 104. The BBE improves compressed whereas the Aphex adds to bass with no taxation on system or speakers and when properly adjusted lifts vocals or sounds in the mud to a level that is heard above the rest. What he said
Before you just start adding components you need to know where you want to be in the future and then map out a plan to get there ... I agree from what I've read here is that CLEAN power is the key to Great sound ..so a powerful amp is a must buy ...Then you have to run that power thru good speakers (12" if you plan on a sub or 15" if you want to get by) after your amp and speakers a GOOD mixer with some effects and an EQ and maybe some built in compression.
If you buy a god quality amp.speaker and mixer you'll find you will need LESS of the MAXIMIZER/ENHANCER/ type components

I have the bbe maximizer, 31 band EQ, 266 compressor etc., and my system sounds awesome, but I thought the rage now was the drive rack. If that driverack can be had for less than 300.00 on E-Bay wouldn't it be more cost effective to go that route instead of all the seperate pieces? ( I know you did suggest that LL) Am I missing something?, or did I misread something?

It is great, but it requires some work. It also fits best with a mixer and separate amp (or powered speaker) combination with mains and subwoofer. When you have a powered mixer with no sub it is awkward to integrate and of more dubious value.

Hi Ron, you can just call me London. I don't know about the Driverack being the rage now, I've been using one for something like five years or so. It seemed like a no brainer for me to make the switch. When you consider how many of the other external processors it replaces it just makes good sense from cost, size, efficiency, weight and over all sound quality. In the PA version you get linkable dual 28 band EQ's (can also be set to parametric if you desire), A total of 24 notch filters to help with feedback control,Classic DBX Compression (which can be assigned differently to your lows, mids and highs), Stereo limiters, Electronic crossover that can be setup from anything to full range mono (this is how you can get away with using the PA version with powered speakers) to six way stereo, Auto EQ with a 28 band RTA, 25 slots to remember the rooms you've already setup, Pink noise generator, Speaker time alignment and last but not least the DBX 120A sub harmonic synth. You loose the electronic crossover and speaker alignment features in the PX version. I use to have two ten space racks with external processors. Now I have the Driverack and another compressor in the rack with my mixer, and a four space rack for FX processors. I'm comfortable enough with it now that I don't even carry an extra 31 band anymore. Selling off the gear I no longer use more than paid for the Driverack. The Auto EQ is great, set up, pink the room (I usually do this during the day when there is nobody around, it takes about five minutes), tweak to taste if desired, put it in the memory for future use. Let the show begin. Enjoy the evening as your PA will probably sound better and be easier to run than it ever has. I think I will have a sale on patch cables in the near future.

For those using cd's and not playing older songs they are not really needed. For mp3's and older stuff procs make a vast difference.
The G2 bass amps are 300 watts and with the Aphex big bottom and using multiple speakers for distributed sound the bass is adequate for most venues. And I am talking about feeling the vibes across the room.

Thanks for the reply to my question Mcky and London.
My 231, and bbe is kinda like on lifetime loan to me from a good friend, if he ever asks for it back, I will go the drive rack route myself. ...Ron
