Honest Comments should help us to know what where doing wrong and to Impove on the songs we sing. And not to feel bad about it.
am not a pro and never taken a singing lesson in my life thats why I like
singing Karaoke. You don't have to be a Great singer.But it is sad when you hear a real bad singer in a Karaoke Bar and some people tell them
they were great. So they continue to trash song after song thinking there doing a good job. I refuse to clap for those bad singers.Those of us who
appreciate a good singer should encourage those bad singers to work on
there songs. Thank you all for your honest comments and ranks it will helps me to Impprove. DJ Lou

Karaoke is for all, good or bad. In the long run it doesn't matter if you're "great" and they aren't. Next day you both go to your jobs. Now the thing you have to worry about is - is that bad singer going to be your auditor, mechanic, cook, etc etc etc., you get my drift.

Karaoke is for fun and for a lot of people a stress release. Talent has nothing to do with it. If it did, you'd have a recording contract by now.

As for honest comments, unless they ask you directly, don't offer.

I agree with Big Jimmy C whole heartedly. If someone can sing well, then that's great. However, most of the time they already know that and it's not that big of a deal for them. But when someone who doesn't sing very well gets up and takes a chance, more power to them. I'm not talking about the drunks who don't know what day it is, much less what key the song is in; I'm talking about people who truly want to have a respectfully good time, but who simply lack the confidence it takes to get up in front of people and expose themself (in their mind) to possible humiliation. Like Jimmy said, I applaud these people simply for trying. And besides with the right kind of encouragement, they usually will get better.

Karaoke started whith the japanese and they did it for fun, So I believe it is all about fun, and the more fun they have the more they will be back. I still love good singers, but everybody deserves a chance in having fun (Look at William Hung) from American Idol.

I can't remember what I had for breakfast and I really don't remember when I started singin' karaoke. It's been a long time and I still get chills when a singer makes my ears bleed, but I would never discourage them. I always encourge them to practice (hopefully else where).

As for karaoke being fun, well it's almost as good as sex and I can do it with total strangers.

I had surgery last week and really can't get out much. I really miss the high I get from singin' to a crowd. I've been practicin', but it ain't the same.

Encourage and never discourage singers, especially new ones. The man was right when he said, if their havin' fun they'll come back!

I've never been able to believe it when I see people who refuse to applaud for "bad" singers. Karaoke is for fun, not for sounding professional. As a KJ, I will do my utmost to try to make the singer sound as good as possible through mixing them, but I will NOT interfere with their pleasure of just getting up on stage and being able to take the spotlight for 3 minutes.

When I was subbing in the mid 90's there was a woman who would constantly come out to the show. It was upsetting to hear how petty and insensitive she would be when a young girl would get up and sing one of HER songs, and this woman would refuse to applaud, then b*tch and moan about how "I can do that one so much better!" This woman did indeed have a fairly decent voice, but like so many ego-centric jerks she was thoroughly unattractive and annoying to listen to simply because her attitude sucked raw eggs.

As Simon would say, I'm not being rude (yes, he is)...I'm not attacking your point of view (yes, I am); I'm just amazed at your attitude.

I have had the pleasure of seeing several people who were "terrible" singers continue to work on songs and their styles and find certain songs that "suit" their voices. They continued to try because someone was out there clapping and saying "good job" until it really became true...... i really don't believe it is my "duty" or "calling" to be the "Karaoke critic" at a show....i just come to sing...some people like the way I sing....some don't... I'm just trying to have a good time and let others have a good time...having said all that, I have noticed that 3 or 4 "bad" singers in a row certainly put a damper on the mood at a show...so alot of KJ's I sing with will "inject" a "fun" (not necessarily meaning a "good") singer in between some of their "challanged" singers.....pays to know your performers...

Eventide, the complainer should have been shown the door. If she would have been at my show, "I" would have done that!

I don't care how good you are... if you ruin for the rest of us, you're OUTTA there. Take your good voice and your attitude and don't come back.

That's fine if you own your own venue, but when you're working for someone else who makes a living off these folks it's another story. The guy who ran that venue was loathe to throw even semi-disordly patrons out. He actually had me turn the mics back on after a splash-down party was over...some of the drunken patrons had gotten rough and refused to leave. He knew that if he got involved himself he would have made it worse, so he begged me to turn the PA back on and ask everyone to please GET OUT. Actually, it was a smart call for him; even though I was nervous about it the rowdy patrons did take it a lot better from me than they would have from him.

When I started singing years back I did not even know how to hold the mic; my voice comes in and out. Now its not a problem anymore. But i still dont sing well and yes Iam improving, thanks for the feedback from some good singers in the crowd: boo means I make too many mistakes, silence; means nobody object: afew heads turn to see me singing, means a few fans: handclaps: that will be the day
