I don't know if I'll actually be able to pull this off, but my GF and I - who have been much the subject of gossip in our chatty little high school cafeteria of a k-bar - are considering faking a raging argument on April Fool's Day, ending with her declaring that she's pregnant, and me declaring that it's not mine.
Anybody out there managed to pull something like this off for April Fool's?

I'm not sure why you would want to cause a scene like that. I can think of far better April Fool's Day "Jokes" than that.
If you want to get people up in arm, create even bigger rumours, and a generally unhappy and miserable feeling, then by all means, go ahead.
If your aim is to "teach them a lesson" about their gossipping, you can give up right now. It won't happen. Those types of gossips will ALWAYS go at it no matter what you do. You're better off to try to make a dog talk. You stand a better chance at it, too.
Your best bet to shut them up would be just to ignore all gossip you hear and don't repeat it to anyone. Ever.

That would be a TERRIBLE idea.
1) The customers would be completely bummed out, it will create an atmophere that nobody will enjoy.
2) When you tell them it was a joke, they will just think you're weird.

Me being a non singer, but a avid karaoke fan. If i ever seen
this at a show, i would never come back... there is enough
drama in everyday life. i go out to get a break from all the
crap life gives us.

Michael, I really fail to see the humor in it. I think that would come off as disrespectful and I wouldn't go there.

At our show we take things slightly more seriously, so instead of an aprils fools day joke, I'll be putting together a petition to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide, i hope to have 100 people sign it
If anyone would also like to campaign alongside me, please feel free to obtain more information from http://www.dhmo.org

Doesn't sound like a GOOD idea ?
But only YOU would know if your crowd will like it
I don't think April Fools Day jokes are for a Karaoke GIG

From what I've seen on this forum that was about as nice and polite as your gonna get.
But since your not a KJ, I will back off my statement.

KJ or not, you asked a question and got the answer. Sorry if you don't like it, but you DID ask! Not one answer you've received has been positive in regards to this "joke".
I would recommend reconsidering and maybe doing something different. Even as a non-KJ, if I was at a show in which someone did this I would leave. As someone else said, there's surely enough drama out there, and this isn't even pleasant drama.
Some people will feel badly for you, some will get angry, some may just be disgusted. Nothing positive here.

Ya sound like a bundle of laughs, diafel. Thanks for the public spanking - it's just what I needed. I'll go bury my sense of humor alongside of yours now.

Just don't forget the tombstone!
BTW, scroll up and re-read the posts. I'm not the only one who thinks this is unfunny!

Honey, it's a funny idea. It's not something I'm actually going to do. There - you caught me. But believe me, with the gossip that's been circulating in that place, they would deserve it. And you're right - I should do whatever the majority decides on. So I take it you're the queen here?

michaeljvaughn, now you're just being rude and nasty.
Certainly not called for.
If you don't like the answers to the questions, then don't ask.
Simple.
Why pick on me? As I said, I'm not the only one who nixed the idea.
Perhaps you're just looking to take out your anger on me because I had the guts to speak plainly and tell you it was a stupid idea?
If that's the case, then go ahead, but you'll gain no respect from others for your mud-slinging.
PS I'm decidely NOT your "honey".

Ah yes. Can dish it out, cannot take it. Dare you to find anything rude or nasty in my previous posts. And you can disagree with me all you want. It's the self-righteous tone that is nails on a chalkboard.

No self-riteousness here, just one with the wisdom of the experience I have gained by going the hard road myself. As for dishing it out, I was not rude to you in any way, as you were to me. Although the letter of your words were not rude, your tone most decidely was.
As stated before, if you don't like the answers, don't ask the questions.
"nuff said.

Occasionally, I start a thread just to have fun. God forbid. I see now that fun is not allowed here. You reacted as if I were proposing a new project for the United Nations. Is this what KJ'ing does to people?
