Anyone witnessed songs lately, that the whole audience joins in and starts deliberately mangling it, singing off key and off time and trying to sound awful?
I've seen this spectacle on "Bennie And the Jets" where by the end people are just saying "Bennie" randomly and whatever pitch they feel like ...and on "Rock-a-bye" one time, which by the end - just dissolved into a pile of wailing mush, with several people walking up to share in the ....uh.... performance.

Never have had that occur.

I'm sort of hoping for it. No, actually, we have a thing about people doing the background for "The Wonder of You" rather loudly but for the most part people know not to step on other people's songs.

Heard about it happening in North Carolina once. Thought is was just bar gossip.

only time I've experienced that is the dreaded end of "Summer Nights"! Just because Travolta's vocal does that, and everyone tries so hard to imitate it! Ugh!

I did utter "cacophony", which I believe is the word you requested? Meanwhile, no one responded... So again, I say: "cacophony"! There! Did you hear me now?

This can actually be pretty fun. I was doing this new rock-rap thing, "Handlebars," and an entire table tried to keep up with the extremely fast lyrics. It was a mess, but it was also a party!

I think it was a play on words..... ....probably sounded like sh!t....still better than a crowd that looks like it's painted on the wall.....even zombies get a little crazy when you sing Thriller..... which I can not.....
