Okay, since we spend a lot of time venting about bad singers (and bad-behaving singers), do you have someone at your bar who does an unusual and exceptional thing with their singing?
One night, my low-voiced KJ discovered that she could sing the Neil Diamond part on "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." Naturally, I had to try out a falsetto rendition of the Streisand part, and icross-gender rendition has since become a popular (but somewhat freakish) favorite.

We had a guy who does both parts in "Picture", which put me on the floor first time I heard it.

I sing Short People, by Randy Newman. The "oddity" is I'm 6'8". Most people laugh, some really get offended. To the ones that get offended, I tell them to get over themselves, ITS A JOKE. I also sing several gender benders, one of which is Vogue, by Madonna.

The wierdest thing that I've ever done was to sing a Morrissey tune in a KB with a predominately 'redneck' crowd. The performance required some confidence in my own sexuality, but apparently modern British Pop doesn't go over very well there...go figure?

As well as the regular singing of songs for the other gender, I sometimes get people who change the style of the song.....
Rod zombie "Dragula" as a sung in the stye of a 70s folk song... Or Enya "Sail Away" sounding like Rod Zombie.
What also goes over well is when people completly rewrite parts of the lyrics to change the meaning of the song completely.... (sometimes this can get a bit raunchy). If done well this can get many laughs. A few of my regulars are in a burlesque show, and they have well practiced alternate versions.
Occasionally I get songs sung in a different language as well.

I used to hang out a drag club in LA that had karaoke. The host appeared to be an attractive blonde woman. Mostly, s/he would sing female songs, and sounded very feminine....at least once a night, however, s/he would pull out Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm by the Crash Test Dummies, and damn if s/he didn't sound almost exactly like the guy who sang it! It was more than a little odd to hear that voice coming out of - what appeared to be - a woman.

I sing two or three songs that are crossgendered. I also do both parts of "feeling that way/anytime" by Journey in both Gregg Rolie's and Steve Perry's voices.

I've got an older gentleman that sings At Last in the style of Etta James... he doesn't change the key just sings an octave below. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard at karaoke, he does such a wonderful job...
Different venue: A pretty much hip-hop bar.... 40ish guy comes in dressed in full drag, except he doesn't shave! Mustache, hairy chest (low cut dress), hairy legs (high heels-size 14). He even matches his earrings, shoes and purse to match the dress. There are plenty of bars around here for crossdressers etc. I guess this guy just gets a kick out of coming in where the kids are...and he dances too!! Wonder...should get him onstage to sing.... Dianna Ross I think...
Also, he's married with three kids...

When I go to karaoke, I like to spring Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite on the crowd. I do all the different voices, even Columbia's high pitched voice...well I was walking down the street just a having a think, when a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink.... I also do Tal Bachmanns She's So High which puts my voice into hyper drive.

I bend the gender at an octave lower, for many female famous songs, and have been actually told, I sound very sexy doing so(ok, so the people that told me this were mostly males... ).....When I do this, I actually feel sexy, and there have been times, that I have had to quit half way through the song, and go sit down, because I'm beginning to pitch a tent, live on stage.....fortunately, it doesn't get big enough for someone to sleep in, so to date, no one has ever noticed.......

This got odder than I expected! The one time I attempted "Time Warp" (key word: "attempted"), LordAir, the only three people who actually DID the Time Warp were all guys over 60. Surprised the hell out of me. But they sure enjoyed themselves.
A lot of female songs are surprisingly low, and I regularly perform Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin-Carpenter and, just for kicks, Britney Spears. And it's always an interesting decision whether to change the gender of the lyrics - but I'm sure nobody really cares.

I do both voices in You Don't Bring Me Flowers as well, but only on occasion. One of my singers "Big Jim" is a large biker-looking guy, who sings Man, I feel Like A Woman- fairly horribly. The place always cracks up...
On occasion I also like to toss in TV theme songs from Spiderman, Underdog, or The Muppets, etc.. just to lighten things up...

Over the years I have had many oddities and could write a book. At a place where I just sang and did not host one of the regs brought her mom in. She was in a wheel chair and about 90. The daughter asked me if I could do old songs. I had just bought a cd with 30's and 40' music on it. For example Alexanders Ragtime Band & Old Shanty Town. Another oldtimer and and I sang to this lady and her daughter rolled her up to stage where she could listen. For certain songs she would weep and we would hug her after singing
After awhile she called me over and asked if she could sing. I said yes What? Somewhere Over The Rainbow.... The host cued it up and handed her a mic. Two words out of her mouth and everybody there knew they were hearing a professional. There was not a dry eye in the place. Most wept. When she got done the daughter rolled her out and a lot of people hugged her and she had that look in her eye that singers have when they know they nailed it. WE never saw her again.
