Hi ,

I wanted to know how to burn the music I have which are in zip format which contains a mp3 and a cdg file to a DVD . Is it possible .

And do you know of any free ware software that does it ?

Also I wanted advice on what karaoke player to buy ... should I buy a vocopro DVG-555K or a vocopro DVG-777K or should I go with a RJ equivalent ....

what I am looking for is a player that allows me to store the karaoke music in the DVD format ( 4.7 gb) so that i can store more music , dont want to use CD's ..... also gives me the flexiblty to have the karaoke music play from my USB hard drive ......

Please do send me a response and guide me in the right direction ..... I am new to the karaoke world ....

I hope you get a response to your first question since I was just about to ask myself. Just got a new computer with a writable CD/DVD drive. I don't currently have any computer karaoke files but I'll probably start getting my new karaoke that way if it isn't too hard to download music + graphics tracks and then burn them to a CD or DVD.

If you already have the files on your computer why run dvd's or cd's at all?
Let the computer and external hard drive do all the work for you.
It has been explained in many various threads here on board.

I am not going to question if you have thoroughly researched, assuming that it could be done, the benefits of formatting karaoke for play as a DVD rather than as a CD? And I am not going to question why, if you have zip files, you're worried about the CDG player and DVD formats? Why not play everything in the computer?

I am confused, furthermore, about your usage of the term "store"! While you can store zip files on DVD, you can't play the tracks directly from those zip files. And how many karaoke tracks do you want to place on any one DVD for future (direct) play?

Anyway, I believe that Nero has a rather inexpensive program that can convert CDG to DVD. What most of us would like is a means by which to transfer DVD files into our karaoke hosting programs, rather than have to slip the DVD's into our computer's DVD drives!

Personally I don't care if it's a CD or a DVD, I just want to know if I can download music + graphics files and then burn them to disc so I can play them on a standard CDG player. I'm sorry if there is an obvious answer, but I've always used discs and don't know much about computer karaoke files.

As to why I'd bother burning discs when I could just run the files on my computer, well, I don't really want to carry my desktop PC to my local watering hole.

The question i had is I have the mp3 file and cdg file . around 1000 such mp3 + cdg files .

I would like to write them to a dvd and play them in my VOCOPRO DVG 777k system (once I buy it ) .....

Is there a way i can burn the mp3_cdg files to a DVD as opposed to a CD ?

In a CD i can have just around 15 - 16 songs (700mb) on a DVD I will be able to have around 1000 - 1500 songs ( 4300 MB)
I hope its clearer now ....

Here again I'm asking why? If you already have the files on a computer why burn anything just play them off of the computer!

Beacuse I cant carry my computer around all the time its a desktop ..... but my player I can .... so I wanted to burn around 10 -15 DVD's which is like 1 DVD = 1500 song thats like around 10000 songs on my dvd pack and can use my karaoke machine to play them ..

ok so you can carry the dvd drive with you. where do you hook it up? I don't know of any KJ that will allow you to hook external equipment into their system.

The typical karaoke cd is a cd that can store 700 mb of data and around 15 songs ....

what I want to do is store more songs on a dvd which can store 4.7 GB .... does this make any sense ?

and the answer to Toms question is yes they can easily be downloaded and burned to a cd or a dvd

There are a few other software programs to burn to a cd but I believe PowerKaraoke is the leader in this field.
I do not know of any other programs to burn to dvd...maybe someone else does.

You can store the zipped files on a dvd just like any other files. Tricerasoft's cdg player will play the files if they are unzipped. Meaning the mp3 and cdg files are separated but in the same folder. A dvd is a folder. The program looks for the two files with the same file name and plays them. Karafun, another cdg player will play zipped and unzipped cdg files. Hope this helps.

This is true, but the OP isn't going to be using a computer to play the songs, he is going to be using a disc based player.

I know plenty of DVD players which play mp3 files on a DVD, or play CDG tracks on a CDG. But I know of none that play MP3+G files on DVDs. You have the Neo or SuperCDG formats, which essentially do that.

The big problem with that even were you to find such a player, would be to select and cue the song.

Power Karaoke DVD Burner burns the files in a format that can be read on any DVD player...I have used it and it works.

Still sounds like a lota hassle.

A laptop and external hard drive is a whole lot easier and in the long run probably cheaper as if you scratch that DVD in the middle of a gig then it's good by to 1000 of you songs for the night.

I am assuming Sherwinm you are a KJ at least that's what I am getting from your posts.

If you are just a singer then WHY do any of the above?

I have tried powerkaraokes software. I an considering buying it because one can put more music on a DVD and since most are hosting now with laptops now they would be able to play them. Just a thought..

Seems a little odd for someone who is NEW to the karaoke world to get his first 1000 songs in ZIP files. Where did you buy them in that format? I don't know if either of those Voco Pro units will play Zip files from any discs, whether CD or DVD. It will probably play the music but you probably wouldn't get graphics to display. The DVD might be a good option if you took it to a PC based karaoke show that used a program that played zip files. Having close to 1000 songs on a single DVD might be a problem when it comes to knowing what track number to play. You would have to carry around a list of all of the songs on the disc so you would know what track to tell the KJ to play and then the KJ would have to scroll through 1000 files looking for the one you wanted to sing. Some KJ's might not be willing to go through all of that trouble. Heck!!! Some KJ's won't even play a CDG disc at their shows with only 18 tracks on it.

a great program for ripping cd+g tracks to your hard drive is audiograbber it can rip them to a BIN file thenyou use CDR-WIN to make compilation disks of your favorites so you pnly hve to bring out a couple of disks when you go out singing Both are free and both have easy to use help.
