I've read that SM58 and E835 mics are the reference mics used on this board.
Just curious to know your opinion on the Sennheiser E825.
How is it compared to its big brother E835?

Don't know it. I have sang through the 815 (812?) and it is just OK. Personally, for the $20.00 difference, I would just go for the 835, which is recognized as a pro-level vocal mic.

You can get a three-pack of 835 mics for $219, which makes a great set of mics for a karaoke business. I have a host friend who bought the three-pack of 835S mics 10 years ago and still uses them today. He does wish he hadn't gotten the model with the switch, though -- he tapes over them.

I don't typically use wired mics for karaoke, only live bands.

The 815 isn't bad but the 1 I own no longer gets used as the 825 sounds much better. The Sennhiser mics are less forgiving than a 58. Your average karaoke singer will sound better on a SM58.

I would choose the SM58 over all, but the Senn 835 is not a bad mic at all.
