It doesn't mean anything, really. It means approximately 40W per channel into 8 ohms, probably. Not nearly enough to drive Peavey PR-12 speakers, which want 400 w into 8 ohms.

What kind of output would i need if i have peavey 12's with 400w output?
looking to get a mixer/amp
I use a mackie 808m(band) with pr-15 for small gigs, this would also be what I would use for karaoke.( I own karaoke equip. to do kj gigs just been to busy with band to get it rollin)
Let some buddies use the 808m about a month ago they liked it so much they just got the 1008 last week. (More power, compression on first four channels better selection of efffects and over 10lbs. lighter than the 808.)
Yamaha would be another Powered mixer brand I would use.Just need to determine what bells and whistles you want and what your budget will allow.
If I didn't already own the 808m I would buy the 1008 the only concern I have with the 1008 is for it to be 10lbs lighter than the 808, the 1008 has two fans and the 808 had a heat sink. (never had the 808 over heat) It probably won't be a problem but I always like the Idea that a fan wasn't bringin in smoke and dust into the 808.
