At my show last night, I had 3 songs that the lyrics scrambled in the middle of the song. I tried them on a different computer, same thing. Not every song on the cdg was like that. I am going to delete the disk from my folder and re rip it. Is it best to rip at the slowest speed? I've been using the middle of the road speed=192

that's not speed, that's how much you compress (kilobits per second) for mp3 conversion.


I always rip at 4x speed, even when I know I can get a better rip or burn at higher speeds... all it takes is a hiccup and you're F'd!

Also, do do anything elso on the computer at the same time BUT do the ripping.

Agree I tried 4 & 8X and got the same results! The slower the better for a perfect graphic, some will disagree but I can only talk for my past experienced

And 192k is a good compression, hope it's a Lame encoder though

Ok, pardon me. What "bit rate" should I run at? I don't see any "speed" buttons on my ripper. There are "constant bit rate" and "variable bit rate" radio buttons. Which is preferable. By the way, the first cdg I redid did the same thing when I ripped at the same bit rate but when I changed it to 320, it was fine.

The bit rate determines size of the output file. If you are at all tight on disk space, I would recommend 192 as that as going to give you all the quality most shows will need.

The bit rate should have nothing to do with the graphics. You don't mention your software that I see. If you use PowerKaraoke or MTU hoster, you should have no trouble with this. If you have CompuHost's ripper, make sure you get the latest version as I hear it is much better than versions of even 6 months ago.

That's correct, the latest CDGRip version 2 has the exact same error correction capabilities as found in MTU and PowerKaraoke, and better yet its FREE! It also automatically determines the optimum ripping speed for your drive and is listed as OPTIMUM in the speed selection dropdown.

We'll see if it helps. I just picked up the new versions of ch and cdgrip. Ripping now.

I rip & burn all of my CDGs at 1X. I'm in no hurry so I try to use the slowest speed possible.

If the errors occur in the same place with the same results the usually it is a cd with a scratch or smudge. Often these can be cleaned and can be ripped.

If they are random or you have audio drop outs it is a software problem dealing with cache or memory.

With cd's or cdg's I have never had a problem rip speed. Burning is a different deal..
