Well, let's try to keep the ice cream analogy going. Let's say that there are two different ice cream parlors on opposite ends of the same city. One of them sells vanilla ice cream and the other one sells chocolate. The guy who sells vanilla ice cream wants to keep all of his customers buying vanilla ice cream from him so he does everything possible to keep his customers from finding out that there is another option on the other side of the city. He wants to keep them ignorant an uninformed but one day a customer of the Chocolate ice cream parlor happens to be driving by the vanilla ice cream store and decides to try a bit of vanilla ice cream. The vanilla ice cream is good but, in his opinion, he likes chocolate ice cream much more. While he is finishing up his bowl of vanilla ice cream, some of the other customers at the vanilla ice cream store ask him his opinion of the vanilla ice cream. He tells them all that the vanilla ice cream is okay but not as good as the chocolate ice cream on the other side of the city. The customers are all very excited about this unknown flavor of ice cream and they can't wait to try it out. A few of them jump into their cars and drive over to the other side of town for their first taste of chocolate ice cream and they can't believe their taste buds. This new Chocolate flavored ice cream is much more flavorful than the bland vanilla ice cream that they have become used to over the years. These converted chocolate ice cream lovers go back to the other side of the city and tell all of their vanilla ice cream eating friends about this new incredible flavored frozen dessert on the other side of the city. The Vanilla Ice Cream Parlor's owner notices that his business takes a steep decline because many of his customers have gone over to the "Dark Side" of the "frost". There are many days where the vanilla ice cream parlor only gets THREE of his former customers and the rest of them are on the other side of the city sitting feasting on Chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. Now, instead of offering chocolate ice cream, the vanilla ice cream parlor owner decides to call Tony Soprano and pays him to put a "hit" on the customer who told his customers about this new thing called chocolate ice cream. Some people just can't handle honest competition and they want to keep people from finding about anything different from what they are trying to sell. They're not willing to change for the better so they decide to shoot the messenger instead.

LOL. You are an ice cream vendor. You're going to have to make your own flavor. Some people might even prefer strawberry over chocolate. You never know.

But then, one of the vanilla ice cream vendor's customers returns to the vanilla ice cream parlor and tells the owner that he should start making chocolate ice cream... and also that he should start using waffle cones, 'cause they are much better quality.

Tony Soprano shoots the customer!

Here's a story about an Icecream parlor that has 36 flavors .
The line outside this place is LONG as customers are ordering all types of flavors.
At the back of the line is a bitter angry man who just wants to order his CHOCOLATE cone. He can't understand why he has to wait for all the other people to order everything but chocolate. He stomps his foot and yells at the owner I JUST WANT CHOCOLATE ICECREAM why do I have to wait !!!!! He leaves in a huff and goes across the street to the place serving just the 1 flavor of chocolate this place has no line and the bitter angry man is happy ...........until he finds out
WHAT NO WAFFLE CONES ? :rotflmao: :D :bouncer: :beermates: :biggrinthumb:

Singers should always post to KJ's questions when the answer is relevant to the question. :withstupid: But stupid arguments start when ignorant people don't read and comprehend fully the question. Or they read the last post and not the original and preceding posts :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

An example is the fill or no fill threads. It never progesses past 2 flavors yes or no.

Over ten years I have run every format and have hightly diversified them. This includes all types of private parties and formal events and weddings. The same stands true for fill or transtion music. I use transition for many things and can run with or without. For example at normal karaoke I sometimes will untick the auto fade button and turn off transition in the last thirty minutes. This is a flag to my singers that we are in high gear and over drive and when called they need to have the mic in hand in seconds. My show is never locked into a format but constantly changes as needed.

A fill or no fill thread should evolve into the following discussions.

What should the volume be and for what age groups or crowds? Does anybody use ducking on the announce mic and what is the criteria for this?
What determines the fade time between karaoke and transition?
When is a specific genre used and how to mix for different crowds including age.
What are the proper tecniques for progessive tempos orbeats to provide a mood or energy? Increase or decreasing.
Do you play new stuff to try to get singers to try new stuff?
What announcements require turning off background music?
What are signs to look for in the crowd that indicate that you are in tune with them?

I could triple this list with more but these are the basic ones. I can sit a 12 year old down and have them calling up singers and doing karaoke like argued here but I have many favors and constantly mixing and coming up with more.

Next we will be arguing whether to have pie or cake with the icecream....

I'm not a big fan of ice cream and pie at the same time on the same plate but I do love ice cream cakes, especially Cookie Puss from Carvel. Mmmmmmm

Years ago I was singing at a bar on sat and sun nights. That during a period when I was in a non drinking mode. I got in the habit of stopping at a 7-11 and getting a Bg ED (ice cream sandwich) This was for about a year. Then I missed a few weeks nd went back in. The young gals said OMG we thought something happened to you.
