doesn't - you're right. Rather than quoting the WHOLE post and editing what I need, I just typed it. I meant to put down DOESN'T. But I still think it's a valid point to make off the post.

"Doesn't waste time with the rotation"... can you explain yourself? From what it LOOKS like, it seems as if there's something that would make a singer that likes a strict rotation or a rotation that's fair... concerned.

and DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO ME!!!

Perfectly clear to me. Some hosts diddle around with their singers between songs, figuring out what they are going to sing. A lot of them don't require their singers to have a pre-selected song.

This is one of my big problems with filler music. Lots of hosts use it as "license to diddle". If you take a minute or two per singer to get the song up, it means 3-6 fewer singers per hour.

Thank you mckyj57 for understanding what i meant.

YES MATT- i'm screaming at you, and don't act like i'm bruce and try to pick a fight with me (why can't you be like your wife peaches, lol).

Let me Clarify for the impaired: "doesn't waste time WITH rotation"- ya know, SCREWING IT UP, telling stoopid jokes, playing full songs, flirting with waitresses, answering their cell phones, taking long smoke breaks, etc...

I DIDN'T SAY "doesn't waste time ON a rotation-(that would be stupid to assume) because you have a rotation regardless of if it's a good or bad one.

So outta my grill for accidentally leaving out the word "THE"- as it should have read "doesn't waste time with THE rotation"....in other words FU#Kn it up.
Sheesh.....as you would so eloquently put it! :o

Haven't been to a show in a while but here is waht I expect or hope for:
CDG PLAYER no. prefer computer system- no glitches that way
EXPENSIVE MICS no but they must be decent enough to handle my voice
WIRELESS MICS prefered but not altogether needed to please me
MONITOR yes if I can't hear the mains
SUB-WOOFER not important to me
ALL YOUR FAVORITE OBSCURE SONGS nah, I can sing just about anything and I really don't want to be singing what I can sing on my system anyway. I'm in a rut right now anyway.

um, if peaches were here, she'd be a LOT worse than I get.

I'm just wondering what the F I did lately to get so many people jumping my sh*t??

I don't think I ever took anything you said jr negatively. Not even this thing I misquoted.

Whatever... guess there's another I'll soon be not responding to.

Ok, if and when, (which is rare these days) I go to other shows to check things out. I have never considered myself a singer, so expectations of a show are non existent. I go to learn other techniques or ideas. Maybe will learn something of myself in the process. I usually always have a good time, unless the host is a total jerk, or totally unfair to the singers, not just me. It's not about me,,,never has been and never will be. And that's how I run my shows,,,it's about what makes them happy.

Oh,,,side note to timberlea,,,,great to see you my friend! Hope all is well with you and your family. Miss you guys a ton online. I keep looking for you when i'm there. Tell kittykat hi for me, won't you please??? And drop me a note if ya see me.

The nick on here is the same as mine on palpalk,,,mrscott_61

You're being a SW- looking into every post for flaws. This leaves you wondering why people get in your grill? C'mon this ain't high school!

Yes you misquoted. And "Ohh-kay" doesn't sound condescending to you? Ohhhhkay.

Ignore me- whatever dude..

Oh, and tell peaches i said Aloha.........ohh-kay????

-I like great sound, but not all equipment is equal, so what I expect is for the KJ to give me the best sound they can out of the equipment they have.

-An honest and equitable rotation

-A small catalog of songs is ok, as long as it is actively being expanded (even if you can only afford a few new disks a year, it's good to keep the pond from growing stagnant). And if you don't want a song sung, then pull it from your book. The other night someone sang a song and the kj turned the bass way up, and the vocals...way down. Even sitting at the bar I was able to read the smoke signals...actually I thought the song was okay and would have preferred to have heard it at normal volume.

-Monitor size and other bells and whistles can be used to great effect, but aren't absolutely critical

-Books, pencils, paper...and easy access to them. I can write my song on a coaster if I need to, but sometimes the bars are even out of coasters!

-I prefer wireless mics, but wired work fine too

-Friendly KJ: The ideal would be someone embodies the idea of what a good host should be--being able to bring out the best in a large variety of people.

Ok, my turn, KJ must be a Hawkeye fan. Just kidding, but it helps. KJ friendly, acknowledges everyone. Decent sound with decent mics, wired or wireless doesn't matter to me as long as it's not causing a tripping hazard. Decent selection, and last but not least, and audience that is into it. I hate going to a karaoke bar and when someone is done, dead silence. Duhh! Get into it!

I've only been to a couple shows where the lyrics are also on a big screen for the audience. Mine.

The sign on the building reads "KARAOKE SATURDAY NIGHT" What are FAIR expectations of the KARAOKE SHOW when you walk thru the door ?...

Actually, this one's a gimme.

If the sign just says "Karaoke Saturday Night" it is only FAIR to EXPECT the following:

Assuming that it IS Saturday night:

A working PA system, microphone, and music/video source. PERIOD.

Not even a host, if they are using something like a CAVS jukebox system.

That's all the sign implies. It's fair to HOPE for a good system, host, and library- but the sign doesn't imply any of that....
