Well, since I'm getting these Shure mics, I'd like to get a new mixer with at lest four XLR mic inputs, but there are so many choices. Except for Voco pro crap, I'm finding hard to nail down one that has all the features I want.
what about:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Mackie-1202 ... 1172627.gc
or:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-MG82 ... 1172629.gc
Looks good, and the price seems very reasonable... (scratches head in confusion)
So many choices!
What are you guys using out there. I'm not looking for a powerd mixer.

Here's what I'd like to get if I could only find one:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... eda8463-20
A Mackie Pro FX12. But everyone I've called is sold out and won't be expecting more until sometime in the spring.
My current mixers are a Mackie 1402 and Behringer 1832, but each is missing something I'd really like that's in the new Mackie.
My requirements for karaoke are first of all faders. I wouldn't host without them. And then:
Internal power supply (I'm on the move and hate the hassle of external units)
Usable reverb and delay
Top mount graphic for instantaneous fine tuning
USB. Although I'm not using it now I won't have to revisit this later if it's there because it's just a matter of when.

The 1402 is a great sounding board. If you have external effects already it would be a great pick.
The Yamaha is also a nice board with compression built into a couple mic channels already. I think you said you already have a good compressor which could be incorporated into the Mackie as well.
The PROFX is also a nice board to check into especially if you run computer.

Hold the phone! Went into Best Buy today and found the Yamaha EMX5016cf
powered mixer.
I know I said I wasn't looking for powered, but OMG, Some features that blew me away
1000 watts 500+500 per channel!!
Maximiser built in!
Outputs for a powered monitor!!!
Automatic feedback supression, OR you can manually tune a channel!
Multiple, simultanious vocal effects... echo, reverb, etc.
Plenty of mic and audio inputs
all the other stuff you'd expect 3 pot EQ per channel, SLIDE controls for leveling, etc.... I think this is it. Suddenly, I'm doing a complete system makeover, but wow!
Talk about a way to simplify your life.... and the guy told me he would sell this to me for $899! Reg 999.
I'm having a KJ-gasm!

I use the MG82CX at home and as a backup/cohort for my MG124CX. I have a friend who has a band and we occasionally use both boards to mic them up.
In fact the only real reason I use the MG124CX is because I like faders on the board for a show while dials work just fine at home. Just preference really. I don't have a compressor and find the compression on the boards to be nice one dial solutions, something that sounds like it doesn't apply in your case.
The board in question:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-MG12 ... 1172631.gc
The only downside I see compared to the Mackie is the lack of mounting ears for the Yamaha. I had to install a shelf in my rack for the board to sit on. You'll need to do that with the Yamaha MG82CX also. If you're not mounting it in a rack it's not an issue. Those mixers have some very different specific items:
Mackie: Very tough sealed pots, very tough construction, rack mounts easily
Yamaha: Onboard FX, compression, balanced TRS mono inputs
I really like that Mackie board as a robust workhorse. I used one at the last place I worked and it's a no-problem board. I use the Yamaha myself because I didn't want to get all the additional electronics to have compression and FX.
Can't go wrong with either so long as it fits what you need for feature sets.

I know, right? The Best Buy in my area has a new Pro Audio section. Very cool, and nice alternative to Guitar Center.

Well that board will complement the S115Vs nicely, I seem to remember you you said you were running them in another thread.
I have pondered getting the EMX5016cf to fit out a second setup for small venues that is a bit more mobile than my huge Odyssey case. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it since you'll be running the same system I will (I use the C115Vs) with the possible exception of a sub (I don't have one yet).

Well, after a week of web browsing, and a full day of pro audio shopping, and pounding my head against the wall, This is the results of my efforts.
I'm going with this Yamaha Mixer:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-MG16 ... 1322411.gc
I going to go ahead and spring the cash for the JBL Eon Powered speakers:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/JBL-EON315- ... 1430399.gc
I have been to a variety of venues lately, talked to the KJs, and for karaoke applications they make a ton of sense. Nice clean sound, self powered from each speak. I've sang on them in a variety of venues now, and I love them.
I'm running the 15" yamaha traps now, which are great, but jeezus they are heavy at 62lbs a piece. The JBLs are almost half that at 35lbs.
Furthermore, this will cut my setup time to practically nill.
For the vocal monitor I'm springing for a small JBL 8" powered vocal monitor speaker.
Add to this the two shure wireless mics I've ordered, and the BBE sonic maximzer I already have, and I think this system should really rock the house.
What do ya'll think?

i currently have the behringer 1832fx and want a compressor for the mics but seeing on here the Yamaha-MG166CX-USB-16-Channel which has compression would it be worth me selling the 1832 fx and getting the other ? does the compression work well on it and is the sound generally good. this is to use it for karaoke and if i read right this has 6 mic compressors.
thanks in advance.
