Looking to "borrow" or invent a new shooter with the name of Karaoke Kiss. Would appreciate any help on this.
This would be a fun shooter that anyone can down (nothing evil!). Almost anyone can down a China White (white creme de cacao, Irish Cream, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon - or not) and I would love it to be as easy as that to down.
The idea is it is a shot of "liquid courage" or just something for everyone to join in and do while karaoke is happening and keep the party atmosphere going.
Would be great for my "Sociable" toasts I do throughout the night.
Any ideas, guys?

How about trying these..... Equal parts vodka, franjelica, and irish cream. I think their called "russian qualudes" but feel free to incorporate them in your show. They go down wayyyyyyyyyyyy too easy

How about a simple shot of Everclear, maybe spiced up a bit......that oughta loosen up them vocal cords.......call it a karacozzi or a karaoke dokey, maybe a singerdinger......vocal envoker......

Thanks, spotlightjr, we tried it tonight, and it would be perfect, except it has just a little too much afterburn. What we are looking for is a shooter that has NO afterburn, is supersmooth, and easy on the tastebuds. We already have a name, Karaoke Kiss. So if you can imagine something "gentle" that will fit the name, then you can get the idea. (BTW, it was a really good shooter, just not fitting our agenda- thanks!).

you could change the name of a buttery nipple in your venue ... now THAT goes down easy....and who wouldn't want to kiss a buttery nipple? OH MAN, I CAN'T BELIEVE I SAID THAT!

Maybe try some Tequila Rose, with a touch of Sorono Ameretto, with whipped cream and a cherry. Toss the cherry in your mouth, then down the shot. Since it will probably still look pink, you might not get too many REAL men to drink it, UNLESS their "persuaded" by one of the ladies. I haven't tried this, so if you do, let me know how it came out. These flavors SHOULD go together pretty good, and all that CREAM should make it go down pretty easy. Probably similar to an Orgasm. Are there Local Laws in regards to a KAROKE HOST or "employee" of a bar ..offering TOASTS or SHOTS ? ...just curious ? -- I can see one of these drunks doing a few "easy shots" and next thing they are blaming the KJ for suggesting or pushing drinks on them when they get a DUI or WORSE?

Could we move this thread? Cocktails should be served in the Lounge.

there are some good drinks I love to drink while karaokin'.

"Mind Eraser" - same thing as a White Russian, but has Club Soda instead of milk. (Equal parts Kahluha, Vodka, and Club Soda) I stir it up and drink it down fast with a thick straw. ))'twas a favorite of some stripper friends!(( Some don't stir it up but instead drink it one level at a time.

And I LOVE Kamikazee's with extra EXTRA and even EXTRA Lime juice. Makes the best sour puss face you ever saw. And for me it helps my throat.

No, there's no local law that prohibits toasting or the selling of shots. As for being an "employee" of the bar, I am not. I am the hired entertainment, which in our province is a very BIG distinction. I am not actually serving the drinks so I do not fall under the liquor laws in that regard.
As for blaming me when they get a DUI or worse, there is a certain amount of self- culpability, but really it boils down to the bartender and/or wait staff doing their job. When they see someone's had enough, they are to cut them off and ask them to leave. If they see they are "getting there" they are to try to get them to slow down.
I really have to wonder at people who blame others for THEIR drinking habits and what they do while under the influence. At what point do they need to take responsibilty for their own actions? Really, I mean, they are NOT two year olds. They are supposed to be ADULTS.
As for pushing too many drinks, I actually don't do that. During my show, I have maybe 3 toasts total in a four hour show. What it's really designed to do is to get everyone together in a party atmosphere and foster a sense of comraderie and good will. It really works, too. My shows, while high energy, are very low on the violence end of things and most people come away with happy warm fuzzy type feelings.
I just want the shot as a "special" Karaoke night only thing. It just adds to the magic of the night.

I know around here the last bar I worked at wouldn't even BUYBACK drinks because if the liability issue

What's BUYBACK drinks? Never heard of it......

1) A Buy Back is simply a policy some bars have of buying back, or giving a free drink, after a certain number ( avg. is 3 ) have been charged for. This was originated to help bartenders increase tips, but it can also bring in and keep customers. The laws are fuzzy here, so they are never advertised- it just happens at the disgression of the bartender.

Hint: If you ever ASK for a buy back, chances are you won't get one. The bartender will figure that if it worries you so much, you will probably be a lousy tipper.


2) A long time ago in a decade far away, I invented the Vanilla Gorilla.

1/2 oz White Creme de Cocao
1/2 oz Amaretto
1 1/2 oz Vodka
2 oz cream

Tastes like a vanilla milkshake. Just shrink it to shooter size

You might want to change the name of this "new" drink, as JReverb suggested, to something other than "Karaoke Kiss"?

The following I assure you will serve the purpose. It doesn't exist as a staple anywhere Ive been. Anyone who has tried it loves it. No burn, no hard liquor, no hangover, smooth going down

It was originally concocted and named after my former wife who had the nickname BABs!

Here it is illegal to give drinks away. That would be why I've never heard of it!
There are also laws regarding minimum pricing. For instance, you can't charge only a penny for a drink.

The same laws may apply here, I just don't know. It's a practice that goes back forever, but again, is never advertised and at the disgression of the bartender. Also, venue policies differ. For instance, here in NJ, TGIF is not allowed to sell doubles ( though I'm sure some franchisee's do anyway).

Well, I was going to try Joe's and Eric's suggestions last night and post the results here today, but the bar manager was away (we try them together), so unfortunately it will have to wait until I get back from Cancun, as I leave on Friday. Ill be back sometime on the 6th, daughter gets married on the 7th so realistically speaking I"ll be posting again on the 8th.

We worked a bar that gave a free shot to each singer after they did their first song. Usually something cheaper like Snapps. Some here give a free shot after the Broncos make a Touchdown. The dart leagues give everybody a free drink. Most happy hours here have twofers.I at one time would give some people a business card signed on the back the bar would honor it.

Those are all great ideas, karyoker, but unfortunately the law here prohibits any of those things. We are not allowed to give away drinks and there is a minimum pricing in effect. 2 for 1's are illegal here as well.
