Gryf, I emailed the result to the Compuhost tech support directly, so they know the history of the whole incident, that way, maybe they can try to duplicate the problem, and go from there. Thanks for all your interest, and help. Hope one day I can return the favor.

Rosario

Thanks. I am having a problem with Compuhost not using my M-Audio soundcard's driver much of the time. Not sure what the score is. I need to get an issue into compuhost as soon as I get a solid repro on it and can have it happen 100% of the time.

My cohort had to use onboard sound the other night. Most frustrating.

I've been watching this whole thing, I'm glad you got it solved. I've had some computer problems from time to time and it can be nerve racking. I much prefer a mouse to the touchpad. Glad you're up and running, looking forward to some positive gig reports.

Thanks Stogie, my GRAND OPENING NIGHT is tomorrow night. Mardi Gras In Wisconsin. Karaoke,, Mardi Gras beads, prizes, raffles, authentic Mardi Gras music for dancing, a real bash. I've been practicing for quite a while, so everything SHOULD go ok. I'll let everyone know the outcome probably on Sunday.

Well, to ALL of you that helped me with this problem, AND other advice that you've given me, I can say THANKS, and my OPENING NIGHT was a raving SUCCESS. Packed house, it was REALLY Mardi Gras Madness. Everyone got the beads, hats, masks, etc. SINGER ROTATION of at least 20, and at one point, pushing 30. Two other well known kjs in the house. A couple of well known DIVAS present, to check out my show, to see if it was worthy of THEIR presence. I had a few hiccups, (someone accidently unplugged one of my speakers) and I forgot to turn off the touch pad, must have accidentally swiped on it, of coarse, had to re-start Compuhost, but didn't lose anything. I was nervous, and did call the wrong person up once by mistake. But all-in-all, I'm the only one who knew what was REALLY going on BEHIND THE SCENE. The owner was happy, because of the PACKED house. I talked to a bunch of people on Sunday, and they were VERY suprised at my show. They said that they thought I was going to do karaoke, but didn't think I meant a REAL karaoke show like this. They were very impressed with my equipment, and the way I made them sound (thanks Karen and Lonman). The ONLY complaint was by one of the DIVAS, he sent one of his friends up to ask me if I had more songs than were in my books, or if that was ALL I had. I said, if it's not in the book, I don't have it. Around here, people are used to tell me your song, I HAVE IT. I have about 10,000 songs in my book. He sang one song, and left. GOOD, I don't need any SUPERSTARS with attitudes, when I'm just starting out. So, we'll see how it goes from here.

Thanks to all.

Congrats on a great first night. Hope my first night at a new venue this friday is as successful as yours was.

Glad to hear the night went well. Sounds like you have got the right attitude about things. Little mistakes happen on busy nights. Most don't notice or care. If a diva walks out, many of the others will be glad about it.
It's funny, since I've started using the computer, I also have people assuming that I have tons of songs that are not in my book. I guess they are used to seeing the shift where suddenly the KJ had 30,000 new songs, but doesn't have the time or money to print new books. Took me almost six months to load all my disks into the machine, but at least I know what I have.
By the way, I've had the same problem with the touchpad and CompuHost. Didn't know what was causing it until I read this thread. Did you bring this problem to their attention. If so, any advice? Right now I'm just trying to not touch the scroller, but would like a better solution.
I wish you continued success!

Way to go, Serenity....So glad to hear it went well. Now you can start doing what Lonnie does, and what I do, regarding music you don't have yet - put out a clipboard or a list somewhere where people can list the songs they are just dying to get - ignore a lot of them but songs that appear consistently consider purchasing. Do a simple "not in the book but new" listing in the front of your books. I have a deal with singers who are new to my show and ask immediately for their own special song. I either suggest that they may want to purchase it themselves and give them a list of suppliers, or I tell them if I see you at my show for the next five weeks, on the sixth week your music will be here for you.

It always amazes me when people ask if I have stuff that isn't in my book. Tells me there are a lot of hosts who just don't bother - now what is the point of buying music and not letting people know that you have it??? Geesh....

Thanks for the replies, DannyG, be sure what you wish for, your wish might come true  , it got pretty hairy there for a while. Good luck. KBear, I did email Compuhost, they're aware of the problem. The only advice I can give is get a mouse, and most of all, remember to DISABLE THE TOUCHPAD.

If anyone can help me, I would like to post a video, and start a new thread on the discussion forum. The thread will be A KJ's Proudest Moment.I don't know how to insert a video into a thread. I've seen them many times, so if anyone can help.

Thanks

Rosario

I think they've been videos taken off of youtube. Not sure if it costs money to post one but I believe that is what most here are doing by linking to videos they put up there.

I'm not going to have the benfit of using the scroller as I won't be hooked up into the house tv's and I am still using my 13" tv. I really should use my 19" LCD but don't want to leave that in the car.

I glad everything worked for you. (Mostly)

For me, I've never had a touchpad work well for anything much.. Always use a mouse. And yes, if the customer can, he/she will kick over you speaker, smash/pull out your cables, and/or spill beer on your keyboard.. (All I've had so far)
