I've seen this in Illinois but never expected to see this in Wisconsin. I was in the central part of the state in a little town of about 400 people. We stopped in for lunch and I noticed a coin operated system. I didn't try it as it was lunch time and the crowd in there were intently watching a hunting show on TV, plus that would have caused the hunting show to disappear when the lyrics would come up. There was a sign that stated "FREE KARAOKE ON THURSDAY NITE". Have you people here ever sen that? BTW, the song list was about 4000 songs.

There's a place in Salem, Oregon that had one. It's been about 5-6 years or so since I was there. (wait, 1-2-3-4... maybe more like 10 years now that I think about it)

It was a Chinese Restaurant with a seperate bar. And yep, karaoke was on a corner of the bar and was coin operated. I was thinking "wtf?!", but there were only like 4 people singing and they'd go up and put in 3-4 songs at a time, so I of course jumped in and did it too. But we didn't hang out there very long.... we headed down the road to a more happening place.

That's the one and only time I've ever seen it. I did see a karaoke jukebox in Woodburn, Oregon once... you gave the KJ $1 per song, and he operated the jukebox. (had to put the $1 in to start the song) But he ran it and put them in rotation. Makes you choose your songs wisely when paying a buck each to sing them, Lol.

At neither place did I pay any attention to how big of a song list they had.

Sounds like the CAVS Karaoke Jukebox. Coin operated. They have them here, but they never reallycaught on. I have heard that they have gotten a bit popular in California's Asian market.

Funny thing. From what I'm told, they started getting used in Asian karaoke bars when the regular host was off duty. At least 2 places ( from what I was told), ended up canning the hosts. Doesn't say much for the hosts.....

The coin operated unit was in Kyoto's in Salem made origanally by DK and would hold up to 200 cdg's, now no longer in production. The other bill juke box systems are cavs rgb1's and are still in operation. These kqraoke systems only work if you promote them just like any other venuea
