Hey all!

St Patty's day is coming up, and I'm sure we're going to busy.... yeah!

My gig is running from 3pm to 1am. Now admittedly, its also DJ work with karaoke.... but should be neat.

This is the second St Patty's day show I've done, but the previous was strictly karaoke, and for a much shorter time.

Anywho... I've got SC8737 Which has quite a few Irish Standards, but not all done to my taste. For example, Seven Drunken Nights only has five nights!

What is a great Irish Karaoke CD? What are some of the things you guys do for your St Patty's day show?

Whatever. The thread is a question about KJing on the holidiay, not the semantics of its pronuciation, spelling, or derivative thereof.

Can we please stay on topic?? Hmmm? :P

It looks like PSG1210 has a decent selection:

Black Velvet Band, The Irish
Cockles And Mussels (Molly Malone) Irish
Cockles And Mussels (Molly Malone) Irish
Danny Boy Irish
Dear Old Donegal Irish
Did Your Mother Come From Ireland Irish
Galway Bay Irish
Gypsy Rover, The Irish
I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen Irish
Isle Of Innisfree, The Irish
Little Bit Of Heaven, A Irish
McNamara's Band Irish
Minstrel Boy, The Irish
Mountains Of Mourne, The Irish
My Wild Irish Rose Irish
Rose Of Tralee, The Irish
Spinning Wheel, The Irish
Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ra (That's An Irish Lullabye) Irish
When Irish Eyes Are Smiling Irish
Whiskey In The Jar Irish
Who Threw The Overalls In Mistress Murphy's Chowder Irish
Wild Colonial Boy, The Irish
Wild Rover, The

but, one of my favorites is Peg O' My Heart, which I don't see on any Irish disc. Also, no one has put one of my favorite songs, Clancy Lowered the Boom ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jftfhIBaOMQ ) on an Irish disc yet!! Also, the versions of Danny Boy need to be sloowwwer...

More likely than not, people will also want to sing Irish groups. I work in an Irish pub on Saturdays. Many of the favorite Irish groups that get sung are:

Boyzone
The Corrs
The Cranberries
Dexie's Midnight Runners
Enya
Flogging Molly
Sarah McLachlan
Van Morrison
Samantha Mumba
Anne Murray
Jamie O'Neal
Gilbert O'Sullivan
The Pogues
Them
Thin Lizzy
U-2

Karaoke show from 8:30pm - 12:30am. We've got the whole party pack thing going on, derby's, tiara's, horns, leis, EVERYTHING GREEN. Restaurant is serving corned beef and cabbage. I'm sure they'll have green beer, they also have quite a variety of beers on tap, ales, etc. Don't know how much Irish music I have, but I don't think it'll make that much of a difference. Should have a pretty good turnout. People just LOVE a party.

I DJ in an ACTUAL Irish bar. Not one of these "Rub my blarney stone, to be sure to be sure, my great great grandfather once met an irishman, that makes me irish, and we serve guiness" places.

On St Patricks Day (NOT Patty's, any Irishman would kill you where you stand) the place is packed. But in fairness, the karaoke is just more raucus than "themed". It's the rock songs, the big in your face ones. Not "Danny Boy" or anything by the Corrs.

In fact, thinking back, the only "Irish" song that was sung was "Whiskey In The Jar"...

I work an Irish pub too. Whiskey In The Jar almost every night, and occasionally Come On Eileen and some U2.
