I don't even know what falsetto is what is it??

Good grief I hope that the goal is not to reproduce the song like the original. If it is I'm in big trouble and my 42 year career as a professional singer/musician is down the tubes!

Actually I prefer a singer who takes a song and makes it his/her own.

As to the falsetto; of course it's not cheating! If it sounds good, use it. My falsetto is pretty weak so I only use it when I'm singing harmony. I envy those with a really strong and well controlled falsetto. It's part of one's natural talents and I believe that it's there to be used.

Almost every singer imaginable has sung in falsetto at one time or another some are just better at it that others. Frankie Vali of the four seasons fame was great at it and made a whole career at it. If you can pull it off purely then it's fine but you have to be able to merge back into your natural tone and pitch without anyone noticing a big change. It just takes practice. If you can't do it well then you you will come off sounding phony and silly. remember, professional vocalist have professional coaches who work with them for hours on end to achieve the sound you here on cd's not to mention all the studio tricks. good luck and don't quit singing just because you may have problems with falsetto!
