We've been KJ's for almost a year now. We started with used equipment we had as a band awhile ago. We had a Crate 6 channel mixer and Crate 500 watt speakers, SM58 and SM57 mics, 2 small speakers for small venues, and a powered Yamaha speaker for our monitor. Our Crate mixer went out in Loveland,CO, and we purchased a Behringer PMP2000 mixer, bad choice. We have an RSQ single CDG player that we love. The Behringer is already on the fritz, one speaker keeps shorting out, now doesn't work on that channel at all. No matter what I do, the vocals just aren't loud enough accept for pro singers that sing out. The only way I get volume on the vocals are by running it through the RSQ, then no problem. Actually, by doing that, I only run one line into the mixer, and when both speakers work sound is ok. We quit using the SM58's, after they were dropped a few times, and the Star Pwr and Peavey mics work fine, accept for we go through cords all time. That's next to replace with wireless speakers, suggestions please? We were thinking of getting a Vocopro 3900k, amp/mixer to use with our small speakers in small venues, and babying our Behringer to supply power the rest of the time, using the 3900's for the vocals, and use the Vocopro to power the 2 smaller speakers for the outside areas of the venue we play, and a back'up mixer/amp until we replace the Behringer , any suggestions are appreciated. You all are so helpful and knowledgeable, thanks.

I don't think I can help you on the amplifier issue but on the cables issue, don't skimp get something on the lines of Monster Cables. They take a beating and keep on working. Haven't had to replace one in the time that I have had them.

We're trying to get by with what we have and replace with good stuff as we have funds. Our Behringer is under warranty, should be able to use for awhile. For now, we are trying to improve vocals. I can't get vocals loud enough with the Behringer, our regulars sound fine, but newbie singers can't be heard. What about the Vocopro 3900 for the vocals and use later on as vocals and amp for extra speakers.
We'll replace mics with wireless, how much for good ones? $300 range>? mixers/amps 400-600range? We've been KJ's for a year and love it, so will replace as we can. Thanx again.

Stay away from the VocoPro mixer, you won't be satisfied with the result. It is VERY underpowered & the effects & eq sections for the mics are not very good. Save up a little more for a decent mixer & power amp.
Mixer - http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-YAM-MG82CX-LIST
Power Amp - http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-QSC-GX5-LIST

This combo will be much better, cleaner & fuller sounding at regular listening levels over the VocoPro without peoples ears bleeding because the sound is too tinny.
What kind of speakers are you using?

The SM58's were dropped a few times? Do they still work? If so that is why these are the better mics. I've had 4 of these - 3 since 94, they've been dropped, flung, swung, tossed & still work fine since day one.
Cables make sure you use Lifetime Warranty cords. Buy them from Guitar Center and just bring them back for an exchange when they go bad. Haven't paid for cables in nearly 10 years.
I personally don't care for cheap wireless mics, have never found one that I like the sound on.
