I use the Furman P-8 PRO II.

The inexpensive ones are nothing more than a rack mounted power strip.

Yup and actually I hate rack mount strips or conditioners. They are unhandy to get to and some of the wall mount power supplies can not be plugged in or fall out.

I zip tie the wall warts to the strip. Keeps them nice and tight.

Yea I do too but they take up 2 outlets by covering one. I sometimes use a zip cord and plug them into that.

IMO, most of your $50.00 to $200.00 type "power conditioners" are pretty much the same, some offer little gimmicks like LED readouts or meters but as a couple of others have suggested offer minimal protection for your electronic equipment. There are a couple of companies (who's name's I won't mention) that have taken the marketing of "power conditioners" to a higher level but I don't see where their units offer any more or at best, marginally more "Real World" protection than most "No Name" or "None Marketed" products. As a matter of fact It seems that pertinent documentation is lacking on most of the units that fall into this category. Most of my 35 years in the audio business there were no such thing as a rack mount "power conditioners", it's only been about the last ten years that I have added a couple, (mostly for convenience and the pull out lights) and neither are the Name Brand boutique variety. So in twenty-five years running nothing and another ten years of using "No Name" types, I have suffered no casualties. I do run a TripLite Voltage regulator when running off a generator though. True protection would cost several hundred dollars and weigh at least twelve to twenty pounds or more. Anyway, that's my take on so called "power conditioner's.
