Decided not to mess with any of that and broke down and bought a AST4206 Audio 2000. My flat panel has a swivel base on it so it sets up nicely and quickly and to knock it over will take a blow hard enough to knock the whole stand over. It has a mic holder on both left and right sides, room on the front to set my business cards, and I can attach liquid holsters on both sides of the frame. I know it's made for a regular tv but my 15" (plenty big enough for lyrics and can be read from 20' away) loves it!

You just SIT your monitor on a regular TV stand?? I would be worried about it just falling over ...

I have that same stand. It's awesome and looks great but has a fatal flaw. The casters. They are cheap plastic and not designed to be hauled around from bar to bar. I am very careful with my gear and have still broken three of them...especially in winter when it is cold/brittle. A little tap...and SNAP! I figured I would just go to Home Depot and get some new, better ones except it turns out they are an odd metric thread ( M8 ) which NOBODY has in stock. I finally found a guy on eBay who sells them and bought a bunch for spares. Other than that, it's a great LCD stand and I get lots of comments on it.

Yep, I broke the wheels too (also wish the stand was black but...) I found heavier duty wheels at IKEA which will take whatever size thread you need to attach them. They are $10 a pair though so I've been making do with a dodgy wheel for a while. Most times I'd say I don't even need the stand on wheels but having them has saved the stand from falling over when knocked.

I too had the AceSonic CRT stand casters fail. I bought it from karaoke.com, so I sent them an email and they shipped me two for free. Replaced those and haven't had trouble since.

I use a small tripod speaker stand with my LCD attached to this http://www.cyberguys.com/product-detail ... uctid=4104 .

I then just slide the monitor off the stand and put it in a mixer bag for travel.

As I said, it would take a blow hard enough to knock the whole stand over. the two side rails hold it in place so it doesn't move.
