I bought several songs from tricerasoft and for the most part they seem to work ok.
But for the music Maestro songs the majority of the songs seem to have a specific bug, in that the lyrics for the very first screen does not appear in advance. The screen is blank. But then when the color change happens as the words are to be sung the words scroll accross the screen appearing when they would normally change from white to yellow.
For the second screen of words everything seems to work fine. The words start out white and change color to yellow at the approprliate time. Only on the first screen does the singer get no advance warning.
The problem only appears with Compuhost. On the triacerasoft free player the problem does not occur.
Sure it is not a problem if the singer knows the song but that is kinda contrary to the concept of karaoke in that the timed lyrics are there to help when needed. For the first screen the singer has no advanced warning....
Has anyone else noticed this problem and if so have they found a solution to it.

I have a number of Music Maestro disks and have not had any problems like you are describing. However, I would never buy from Tricerasoft because of their price. If I need to buy individual songs I try BuyKaraokeDownloads and if they don't have them then I try to find the song on a disk that has at least 5 or 6 other songs that I don't have. It sounds like the problem is with the Tricerasoft download.

I buy a lot from tricerasoft because they are one of the few legal suppliers of downloads. And with prices per song at about $1.20 they are quite competitive with buying whole CDs. Even if I can find a CD that has 5 songs I want, it is unlikely to be under $6.
I am currently at about 8k songs and it is hard for me to find a CD that is not all "New hits" that has more than 4 or 5 songs on it that are the popular music genres at in my show. I have bought several hundred songs from tricerasoft.
I am quite sure it is a product of the ripping process or the origional files that they use at Tricerasoft.
Just to clairify the sound is fine, the opening screen appears ok, but the first screen of lyrics does not appear until it is to be sung, and then only on Compuhost, and not on the Triceraoft player.

I use Compuhost with no problems playing MM files, albeit older ones. Have you contacted the Compuhost support? I'm sure they'd be interested.

I have a few PURCHASED MM discs that the highlighting is off by a full second. Not the situation you're describing, but MM WAS well known for it's flaws.
I agree with BuyKaraokeDownloads and Selectatrack as being quality sites to download from.

I've purchased tracks form them, but they've been newer songs, so they weren't MM......I've never had to, but can you download the song again, using your email link for purchase? Usually you can download more than once for a specific time period......maybe you have tried downloading a second or a third time, if so....."Never Mind"

In total I think I have purchased about 1500 songs from tricerasoft, for the most part they work great. Only about 90 out of 200 MM songs had the problem.
Generally their oldest and newest songs seemed to be fine (based on disk number).

Actually, the problem is likely the Compuhost player. I experienced the same symptom when I was writing my CDG interpreter. Compuhost probably didn't test with every manufacturer, I certainly didn't. Anywho... the cause was that MM fades in an out of it's title screen unlike most of everybody else. This is accomplished by calling a series of updates to the color palette. If the interpreter doesn't call a screen refresh after each palette update you get the problem that you described. Time to e-mail compuhost and let them know about the problem.

Did test it with the tricerasoft free player and it worked for them. See first post.

I'm sure that the CompuHost folks would dearly love to know about the problem. It might have already cost them a sale or two. Too many people I think, base their experience with software companies in general on one particular company and their policy of "known issues" which translates to "Yeah, it's broken but we're not going to fix it so you're stuck." The smaller companies really do want you to report bugs.
In this case all they have to do is redraw the screen with the new color palette each time it's changed. It's a problem that is hard to find but easy to fix.

The MM songs are the only ones we have in 320 bitrate. Unfortunately not all players support 320 bitrate properly, infact the MP3 codecs in Windows XP have problems with songs 256 or 320 but Widnwos Vista has no problems with their new MP3 DMO codecs. So please be sure your player supports 320 bitrate. If you need to use a different bitrate, either don't get the MM songs or you can unzip the files, down sample or "transcode" the MP3 down, and your player will do fine. Ofcourse if your player has sync issues, check your player and video card drivers.

Right then... I see now...ah.... No I don't. What has the MP3 bitrate got to do with the with the CDG file playback? What piece of the puzzle haven't I got?
By the way, welcome to the forum and thank you for weighing in on the matter.

This may or not be helpful, but:
I am disc based, though I occasionally use a PC for house parties.
Many Music Maestro DISCS have some interesting quirks. I have experienced slow loading with many of their discs ( Still love them for Oldies though!), and some delay with line coloring. Some actually set up a small vibration in the player when loading. These are all MFR. discs.
These problems remained after being digitized for my PC as well. This leads me to believe you are experiencing a MM problem, not one from Tricerasoft. Unfortunately, MM is out of business, so what you have is what you're gonna get.

you guys could always recombine the MM files using mp3toolz to .bin and then extract them to .mp3gs again using a lesser compression.

There is a disc jockey supply company here that will make custom discs... of music maestro, dk, and literally ANYONE who's out of business and sell them... and they'll stick a "pro burn" label on them.
How can they get away with this? Simple. Who's gonna go after them? Nobody.
Makes me wonder how anyone can "sell" a digital downloadable version of the same thing from any of these companies that basically costs them nothing and there is nothing really legal about it.

The "Pro Burn" system can be found around here too. They use a system developed by Essential Karaoke, and are copywrite protected on the inner track so they supposedly can't be duped- in hopes of double orders for backup. The funny thing is that the protection is on the innermost track. If you can copy track for track, it's no problem.
In other words, they try to copy protect something they pirated- go figure.
