I purchased a song via Sound Choice but all I got was the music.
How do I get the words that go along with the song?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The majority of downloads from Sound Choice are audio only. They usually specify that. Sound Choice is not a huge fan of mp3g downloads & don't generally authorize sites that use SC material.
So the answer is you can't get the words for your particular download, unless you want to take the time to make it yourself using karaoke builder or the likes.

just to add --Karaoke files are downloaded in 2 parts

the MP3 for audio and a seperate graphic file --- together they are called

mp3+g files

Must make sure your download source has both !!

I was told that Sound Choice had the best Karaoke music.
The last KJ we used had tons of music by Sound choice as well that had words with it.
Does that mean he made all the words himself? I personnal dont think he's that brght of an individual to do it.
Not to mention he claimed that he payed for some kind of service that gave him unlimited music. After doing most of my research it sounds to me like he was using illegal stuff.

Thanks for the replys.

No he didn't make the tracks himself, he bought the actual discs & ripped them to the computer - or downloaded from illegal sites that SC does not sanction.
Sound Choice does not authorize downloads through sites with the graphics. They do have some they authorize with graphics but it's really just a handful. Most of the legal downloads available BY Sound Choice are audio only. Which is why it was told you in another thread to buy the discs & rip them to computer. Download sites are very iffy to begin with knowing who is & isn't legal.

For some value of best, I agree. For country, PH and CB do as well in my opinion. Anything with a fiddle and pedal steel is going to be better on Chartbuster, if it relies on lead guitar it usually is better on Soundchoice.

I sincerely doubt it. Definitely not if it had the SoundChoice logos.

You are right, I believe. I've heard this claim, and I assume they have either 1) been sold a bill of goods or 2) are lying.

You can get full karaoke tunes, with graphics, from different manufacturers but not SoundChoice. Actually there is quite a bit better selection for modern rock, as Sunfly makes all their new tracks available through Tricerasoft. Country is much more limited in availability.

Knowing what you have to invest, and that you have the ability to have a high-speed internet connection in your venue, I would:

1) Buy Soundchoice Foundation and Bricks ($1100).
2) If you have lots of country sung, pick up recent songs by buying compilations for 1980s, 1990s, and 2005-08 from Chartbuster (about $250.00).
3) Supplement for requests by downloading from Tricerasoft.com and buykaraokedownloads.com. You can get a *lot* of rock tunes this way from Sunfly. Not the greatest versions, but competent.

Get CompuHost and FastTracks have at ripping the songs until you build your library. Print and keep receipts for all downloaded songs you pay for.

This is essentially what I have done, though I took a different route by haunting karaoke.com for a couple of years and buying every closeout they had. That bought me all of the DK disks, the PH disks, and quite a few Legends. I also get custom disks of SoundChoice tracks that are important. They are $4.00 a song, but I only have a hundred of them or so.

I also buy artist collections for hugely popular artists that are sung frequently. There is no point in buying the Three Dog Night or Mariah Carey compilation -- no one does those songs. Artists like George Strait, George Jones, Alan Jackson, Reba, the Carpenters -- those I want to have all of their songs.

*Ahem* - I actually have far more Mariah sung than the artists you mentioned MickeyJ. But I think I follow your thought patterns here. You are talking about what's being sung your particular rooms, right?

And with that I'll segue right into the topic at hand. SonofShep you know what's being sung in your room too. You can get started with just a few hundred songs. Now... without getting into a quality argument here... if they're used to singing Sound Choice then you are going to have to get Sound Choice. That's what they're used to and they'll have a fit if you use other brands.

There was (maybe still is) a site in the UK that was selling SC downloads but I don't know if they're legal. Don't have the URL handy but you can find it without breaking too much of a sweat. Mykaraokecdg I believe is SC legal but as you probably already have noticed it's a custom disc site. And not cheap either.

Thanks again for all the input. I'm trying to learn as fast as possible and I believe I'm beginning to understand most of it.
I'm using Show Presenter for the Karaoke software. It is what the last KJ used and what my new guy is familiar with.
If I buy the discs from Sound Choice, how hard is it to burn them onto the computer?
Is there anything special that I need to do it with? How long does one disc take to burn?

I use Powercdgburner ($39) and make glitch free 192 rips at 48x. So it goes real fast.

And it's not hard at all. That program puts them in whatever folder on your hard drive you specify right on the main screen.

Or CDGRip is supposed to be more compatible than before with non-cdg specific drives. Plus it's free.
http://www.karaokeware.com/CDGRip.html

If you can't get clean rips or no graphics at all, you may need a different drive which you can just get an external USB drive that will work better.

Well, a little of both. For country areas like mine and which are present so many places, you need the artists I mentioned. A *lot* of their songs are sung, I am talking 10 or 15 from each you hear on a regular basis. That isn't true so much in the city -- there you hear I Cross My Heart or He Stopped Loving Her Today, songs from the foundation. But because it is so much easier to sing for men, you hear country even in the city.

I have been to a *lot* of different karaoke shows all over the country, and rarely hear Mariah sung. If she is, it is always one or two songs that are in most foundations (Hero, Against All Odds, It's Like That). Three Dog Night? Rarely, and when they are it is the few that are in the foundations. And this is in the city, where they don't do much country. In my area I have gone three years without hearing a Mariah song once.

My point is, there are going to be artists you hear *all* the time for your room. Those you should consider getting the artist compilations for. That's going to range from Elvis to Sinatra to George Jones to George Strait to Queensryche to Pearl Jam to Alanis to Stone Temple Pilots, and everything in between. But you will get some value out of having that in my opinion, even if some of the songs never get sung. It makes people feel you have what they need, much more than having one or two songs here and there by everyone.

My latest book sort of takes that into account. I only have the popular songs for most artists, and an asterisk* that says ask about more. But for the artists I hear all the time, I put most of the songs out there. It keeps my books small, but gives people the idea I have lots of stuff.

The most sung Mariah song in my room is "I Don't Wanna Cry." But there are several that are regularly sung... "Don't Forget About Us" "Fantasy" "Always Be My Baby"...

The only Three Dog Night song ever done anywhere I've hosted is "Joy To The World" and that's rarely. Here's a band that has not withstood the test of time.

The bartender/KJ that I am using now does one hell of a version of Never Been to Spain. I found it funny you were talking about Three Dog Night.
That has to be my most FAVORITE song performed in our place. Dang can he wale on that song.

As soon as I say to myself "no one does those songs", I can be guaranteed someone will come in and request one that weekend. Never fails.

Well here's a start, per a recent study done in the UK:

http://www.responsesource.com/releases/ ... elid=46458

Course favorite songs vary from country to country, and even region to region.

Sure, I hear the occasional One or Mama Told Me Not To Come. But I hear 10 different George Strait, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Elvis, and Neil Diamond songs for every one Three Dog Night. I hear 5 Madonnas and 10 Rebas for every Mariah Carey. I don't need every Mariah Carey song -- I want (and have) all three Reba Chartbuster compilations.

So tell me Michaelangelo1- is "Angels" really the third most popular karaoke song among men and the fourth with women in the UK?

Like... I'm speechless, man.

Well OK I guess he is British.

edit: With "Dancing Queen" number two among men and "I Will Survive" tied at number three (again with men) I'm beginning to get the picture. Took me two hours.
