Not a bad mixer. I would like to see it have a little more power and a 4 band eq on the stereo channels rather than a 3, other than that it's a good board.
I would probably save up a little more and opt for the new Mackie PPM1012. It has everything the Yamaha has plus an extra eq for use with monitors, a mono output, dual effects processors built in & a dual monitor capability, not that most would need this however.

It pushes about the same power, the Yamaha's 350 watts @ 8 ohms is a 'max' rating, not continuous. The avg rating would be closer to about 250-300 watts at 8 ohms, which the Mackie is as well.

We use that mixer & its great ! Of course we were using an AKJ7000 before that so its like night & day But honestly speaking weve had one break on us & had to send it off to get fixed & it took so long that the store finally gave us a new one for all of our trouble which was very nice..it breaking was our fault, we had it in the suv & not in a case so when hubby slammed on breaks to miss a dog something fell on top of it shoving a button in & we couldnt get it out..but as far a how good it works we love it !

EDIT So I hit the topic thanks button whats it for & why do we need it ? Jus' wonderin'

For the money, in my opinion you can't beat it. It has enough power to drive most low-end PA speakers, decent effects and compression. The sound is good.

Lonnie, where do you see peak output of 350? The manual says MIN of 350, and my understanding was it is 350w/channel by the US and AU continuous output standard (320 by EU specs).

I saw in the manuals specs - MAX power 350 watts into 8 ohms.

your not seeing things mickey, the manual I have states 350 Watts minimum, nothing under typical or maximum. That's pretty much the same amp that they have been using in the EMX5000 series for years. I assure you, it is no weak sister.

It's a very good powered mixer for the money. If you could find a used EMX5000-12, (the previous generation) you would gain an extra FX engine, (2 total) the ability to have a seperate sub send complete with an adjustable low pass filter and it's own fader. You would also gain the ability to patch in and out of the mains. You would loose the compression feature though.

First thing in the specs itself say MAXIMUM OUTPUT POWER 350 watts into 8 ohms. Sorry I mislead, I saw it in the specs not the manual - so one or the other is wrong.

London is right. If you can find a EMX5000-12, that would be the way to go. You can find them regularly on ebay for about $300 to $350. That being said, I bought the EMX 5014, and love it. Plenty of power and compression, but I'm not crazy about the effects.

Before, I was using a Behringer 1832FX with the Yamaha MSR400 which were (for me) back breakers at 52 pounds. I like my EMX5014, but on reflection, I should have bought the EMX5000-12 at half the price. It has everything the 5014 has, and more. A good choice if you can live without the compression.
