Being an opera fan, I've always hated the fact that they take perfectly complimentary words - "diva" meaning a singing goddess (literally - same root as "divine") and "prima donna" ("first lady," your absolute best soprano) and turn them into bad words.

That said, though - I'm with you. Nothing better in the world than someone who sings beautifully and makes no big deal about it. Nothing worse than someone who sings loudly but not particularly well and thinks he or she is God's gift to karaoke.

They're all perfectly entitled to sing, obviously. But it's fun to talk about the difference in styles, and to pick on people who are deluded.
