...dude, you REALLY need to relax! You have now resorted to putting words in my mouth..I never said anything remotely like this. I simply suggested that Lon (or someone) suggest this simple enhancement to Invicion, and you went off the deep end...even going so far as to say you would publicly REBUKE any such suggestion at the CH forum!
I really don't understand why are you getting your panties in such a wad over a simple enhancement SUGGESTION?! Why does this anger you so?

My comment, "find something that better fits your needs" was not meant to imply that they have a "take it or leave it" attitude, in fact quite the opposite. They have demonstrated an incredible reputation for listening to their users, and my loyalty is due in part to just that. What I meant to say, is that different products may be targeted to different users, just as different automobiles are targeted toward different users. A Chevy may fully meet the needs of one, while a Ford another, thank god we have the choice. The point is, no product can/will satisfy the needs of everyone, and as such all I was trying to say is CompuHost may not be the best product for your way of running your show. Simple as that.
But if they offered an option to not actually move the rotation - but keep it a straight list that just highlights the current singer while moving the highlight down as opposed to actually dropping a singer to the bottom & moving the list up, everything else could still function as it normally would, i'd be more inclined to use it. Wouldn't have to a forced thing, just an option.

Get off your high horse, tbreen and come back bown to earth where the reality is.
No one is out to get you or out to twist your words.
I'm glad that you agree that certain sofware fits the needs of some while other software may not, and that we are free to choose. However, the tone of some of your previous posts regarding Autokdj suggests that it will meet the needs of noone and I simply beg to differ. (Let me be very clear here and post this disclaimer lest you twist MY words and suggest again that I'm twisting your words. I didn't say you SAID it, but I do say that your tone and way of posting has SUGGESTED IT. -- No twisting of words here, just my opinion only).
Autokdj fits my needs nicely while CH doesn't. That's all I've ever said and my original question was asked to see if CH would indeed fit my needs as well. Sadly, it doesn't.

"mess around"? As I stated in an earlier post. If for whatever reason, you need to play a singer out of rotation, simply click on their name, and hit go. This is where the problem lies, now they are at the top. but within 2 seconds from hitting go, you have them right back where they were in their rotation. 2 seconds. Highly unlikely their song has even begun again. They stay there. They don't move from that spot again, unless you move them.
The problem is that I must put them back manually IF I remember where they go. Unless, of course, I start keeping a hand written record of my rotation. And yes, I may have to do more than one at a time. The program I use does it automatically AND creates rotations according to MY rules, not someone else's. This is the issue I have.
I guess I didn't explain just how easy it is well enough. You look at your list, obviously you are going to click on the person you want to move their song out of rotation (for this round only). You will HAVE to click on them whether it is ch or another software. So no extra work there one way or another. Now when doing this at compuhost, the screen is still showing exactly where their spot is. You don't even have to count from the top or bottom because the left side of the screen even has a number there (#5 in my scenerio). You click "go" and a window pops up reminding you that you are about to move them to the top of the rotation and asks you if you want to continue.
As you decide to go ahead with this important decision, you note that they are singer #5. Once you click "yes" and the singer pops up to number one, you simply click on the down arrows to put them back. I used an Ultrek 499 stopwatch and it took me less than 3 seconds to put them back. Again, to me, no reason to decide not to buy a great hosting program that has so many other good things to it. I would like to see it changed.
However, as you said and I quote "The problem is that I must put them back manually IF I remember where they go. I don't know how you couldn't remember, it's right there in front of you as you change it. Instantly.
""And really, I don't need the scrolling marquee to let my singers know when it's their turn. They KNOW all on their own because of the way I run it.""
Wow, so if you have a 30 singer rotation, average song 4 minutes, they all know how long before they sing at all times because of the way you run your show. How might that be?
Trust me, the patrons love the screen!
If you don't want to buy the program, that's your call, just seems like a very small detail to base your purchase decision on.
Take care, I'm off to the show!

My experience with any winamp frontend or plugin, is that since it is a single player, the fading is subpar at best, each requiring a second instance of winamp to even do that. And I mean the filler songs themselves, not just fading from a Karaoke song to filler.
an autokdj feature is that you can set the priority of your filler music to lowest priority and any karaoke song that is entered after you start play will automatically start replacing the filler song with the karaoke one. Saves a step in autokdj that is needed to do the same job in compuhost. That said I won't be switching to AUtoKDJ because i would have to rename all my songs, doable with foldmonkey, but still not worth the time and effort needed to do so in my opinion. The only thing I don't like about Compuhost is really that stop and pause abruptly stops the music. If they were to add fading out as an option like they have it set for the karaoke then for me Compuhost would be the perfect software choice. Right now I use Compuhost despite that one flaw in it. My bar owner does not want me to be the marker(starter singer) because she wants me to favir the customer, which I can understand. It makes it hard to transition from filler to karaoke because I have to stop the music before calling up my next singer because they are never ready when I need them to be (another reason not to go with AutoKDJ since the music keeps playing and there doesn't seem to be an automated pause after karaoke song feature in AutoKDJ).

I'm curious how much you actually like the filler music option in Compuhost. I personally don't use it, I prefer an Ipod mainly for the actual ease of setting up playlists. If Compuhost could import Media player playlists I might be more inclined to use it.
Hey, I might suggest that along with Lonman's rotation suggestion

To start, happy AutoKDJ user since 2006...
There's a setting in Winamp in the PLAYLIST section called Manual Playlist Advance. "When this option is enabled, the playing song will repeat indefinately if repeat option is turned on, or playback will halt after every track is repeat is off"
I used to use this feature when relying more on filler music between each singer, but now I just rapid fire from singer to singer. If the person I am calling to the stage is not ready or avaible, I simply double click the next song in Winamp to start the music playing, and then slide that song up into Position #1 in the Winamp playlist.
I haven't played with Compuhost in a while - but like some of its featutes. I somehow remember in my testing, that if Joe was in the rotation, but didnt have any songs in, the software would still stop at him as if he had a song in. You'd then have to "rotate" him to the bottom and continue on to the next singer, is this still the case?

I use it all of the time, setup, click AutoPlay and forget it for the entire night. As for CompuHost supporting Media Player playlists, it already does! CompuHost supports both .pls and Media Player .m3u playlists. In Media player just save you playlists as M3U files (selectedable in the Save as Type drop-down). Then within CompuHost locate and load the playlist, done.

NO, you now have the option to automatically skip a performer that does not have anymore requests in queue. You also have the option of hiding any singer without requests in the scrolling rotation.

Danny, I guess I don't understand what you're saying. Isn't that the same thing as CH does in AutoPlay mode?
After launching the FillerTunes player in AutoPlay mode, anytime you start a new Karaoke song, the FillerTunes player automatically fades away as the karaoke song starts, thus "replacing" the filler song, at the end of the karaoke song the FillerTunes player automatically fades back in, thus "replacing" the karaoke song, no abrupt stop or start, and all without ANY user intervention.

The autofade box when selected will automatically fade karaoke into filler and vice versa as each is being played. The only time ch abruptly stops or pauses the music without filler fading in is when you manually select pause under the karaoke player section of the window. If you hit the stop button in the karaoke player and you do have the autoface box checked, the system will face into filler tunes assuming you have the filler tunes going. The only time I would hit the pause button during a show is,,,, well I don't know why I would use this but if I did, I would think I would be unpausing it in just a couple seconds and wouldn't want filler music coming in.

I love the filler music option. I set my playlists for my iPod long before I got into karaoke. Set up by decade and genre. For example 80's pop,,, 80's rock, etc. So I just pull that playlist from my external hard drive into filler tunes, randamize the playlist so it doesn't play 4 def leppard tunes in a row and go. If I do want to mix two decades or decade'genres, I can manually pull the 2nd playlist or songs or sections out of that playlist and add to filler tunes.

Latest version has the option to make a singer with no requests be inactive, which skips him.

...but keeps their spot in the rotation. I like that best of all personally. I don't lose where people where when they decide to get singing again. I can always move them manually if it's been a rotation or two since they sang last but I like knowing where they "should" be in order to make that call.
<edit> Thanks for the note regarding Compuhost and reading the playlists. I might just set that up and see how it goes. I like the iPod because I don't have to worry about music should something happen the the computer but having the music auto-fade in and out would certainly be useful.
