Thanks for your opinions. An easy question, no doubt, the Seinheiser before the Shure I don't think they sound alike at all, the sm58 kills your voice because it has no sensitivity where the e835 is rich and sensitive For reliabilty, well, we all know the Shure has it but I really believe this mic is over rated and past date, but a must have for it's durability and for those with powerful voices Just Google and you'll see how much the sm58 is over rated and not ageing well...
Have to disagree, there is not that much if any difference between the 835 & the 58. They are both great mics, but again the durability will have to go to the 58.

Yep there are similar articles/reviews for the 58 as well, but really doesn't matter. I was never arguing that one was definitely better than the other, both sound about the same, maybe a slight if any difference, but in a durability test, the 58 will have the edge. Nice thing with the Senn is you can get them in a 3 pack for slightly more than the cost of 2 mics.

You're right, the truth is what's best for your voice I know that the sm58 is not for me, I really sound bad... but perhaps it's the mic

I've used both these mics,,,,plus a few others too, like the Behringer XM8500, (which I like as well, but that's not the discussion here). I honestly like both mics. Both have good sound, but I find for male singers, the Senn is a much better quality sound. For female singers, I think it's a tossup. I agree with Lonnie on durability edge given to the Shure, but that's not to say that the Senn isn't durable, because it really is.
I think you wouldn't go wrong with either one, but you can find better deals on the Sennheisers on the net than the Shures, (I paid 200 for a 3-pack, including shipping on the Sennheisers). However, the screens when needing to be replaced, the SM58 are much cheaper and easier to find.
So, my conclusion is,,,,,,can't go wrong with the...........drum roll,,,,,,,,,,,Sennheisers by a nose!!!

I own PR20s in pink, red, and white; and my singers do get a laugh out of them. I do not like the handling noise, but the vocal quality is excellent. I think I have mentioned on this forum before, but I have lent them out to several friends who sing in weekend bands and such; and they have all liked them better than SM58s and such.
The PR22, which does not have such a handling noise issue, is available in several colors now as well. If you want to buy some PR20s let me know, I will sell you mine and upgrade to PR22s.

sadly the shipping costs would probably equal if not rival the price of the mic
