Tip to the Vista laptop users. Microsoft is activating about anything now. Install a basic XP OS and trim it down to what you need.

when ME and 2000 and whatever else came out after 98 were released i stuck with what i had. when XP came out i was hesitant, stuck with 98 for about a year. when vista came out...im still hesitant, now comes 7..ill give it some time, in a year or so if i hear good reviews i may put it on my next system. Ive got three nice XP lappys that treat me well and do what i ask. my personal laptop has the old S & D, the others are both karaoke only and have the new S & D, but the second is really not needed so it would become my personal laptop if this one died. it seems Microsoft comes out with 1 good OS for every 3 they release.

I still use (on the very computer I typed this on) Win2Kpro... I have a license for XP Home (the computer I had it on died), and my wife has XP Pro. I use XP Pro at work ... I'm not afraid of upgrading, I just don't choose to do it. I like what 2k does for me.

On my Karaoke Laptop I run Vista 64bit (to support the 4 GB Ram). So far I haven't had any issues with it. Everything runs the way it's supposed to. I have to say, that I trimmed down Vista a little bit. Since I only use it for that one purpose (to run my shows) I deactivated everything I don't need for my shows.

On my Desktop at home I have a Beta version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit running. I have to say, that I'm really really impressed with Windows 7 so far. It is by far more compatible with older Software than Vista and it runs circles around Vista when it comes to speed. I can't wait for the final version to come out, which is supposed to happen by the end of the year.

I have Vista 32 on my destop & 64 on my laptop with no real problems so far - I did disable sidebar and a couple other things that I don't really use anyway. Both run MTU Hoster perfectly.

Actually looking forward to 7 coming out, have heard great things about it so far.
