Anyone know where I can find a replacement disc for Pop Hits Monthly March 1997? I've looked on e-bay and in a few of the karaoke store sites that I have ordered from before, and I haven't seen it.

This is why my originals never see the light of day. I buy them, I copy them, then put them away until if or when the copy fails. They won't give you a new one for free because you scratched or damagaged it in any way.

Another reason to make a back up. Why not resurface it, then burn a clean backup?

I didn't realize they had a Country line in '97. It's Pop Hits Monthly, Pop - March 1997.

Thank you for that fine commentary, but I did not ask what you do/did... I just asked about finding a replacement.

How do you go about resurfacing a CDG? I've never done that before.

Most Video Rental Stores have a disc resurfacer. They fix up CD's and DVD's. It basically polishes the disc. I have done it on a couple of times for $2 a disc. It fixed up the disc enough for me to make a couple of new copies, one replacing the original, one for your working disc.

First, all Pop Hits Monthly Discs have an actual number. If it's from the Pop line I believe yours is PHM9703. Is the first song One Headlight by The Wallflowers? Either way, the number is somewhere on the label.

The quickest way for light scratches is to spend around $29 for a disc doctor or similar device. This light resurfacing takes about 2 minutes, then you buff and your done. From that disc you burn a backup, then use the backup, and keep the original in case this must be done again.

You can also go to a rental store and have them do it for a small fee ($5-$10)

If you have a large collection, and use them ( rather than a PC) for your show, it might be worthwhile to invest a few hundred in a pro resurfacer. The JFJ runs a bit over $300, but can fix ANYTHING short of a snapped disc or label side damage. Once done, you can copy to a new disc. I always recommend the copy because a heavy resurfacing for deep scratches thins a disc.

The only one up here that I know that even has a resurfacer is Hollywood Video & they will not do customer discs - not sure why.
But this is the machine they use. Thinking about getting one myself.

I'd be careful on the Disc Doctor... I've personally had some discs no longer track right in trying to remove bad scratches.

Cueball, this is another way to look at this altogether... why not use a copy of the original disc?

doowop.com has a resurfacing service, or they used to!
