Matt the first studio camera I worked on was an old Shibbaden. It weighed 300 pounds and we had 10 1,000 watt lights to light the news set. I changed the green plumbicon (tube) in it and it took over 12 hours to realign it. The video im taking now with my camcorder blows my mind. At that time JVC and Sony was taking over the broadcast industry.
Technology is totally changing the movie industry it is more on location now with better quality.
At KTVS we had an old RCA transmitter that was all tubes. I was one of the few old farts that could maintain it

. We put in a new JVC transmitter with 2 engineers from Japan helping. They turned it on and it was within 1% of the power out (100kw) specs.
Thats what blowing my about the Mackie thread. An idiot can use plugin formulas and design anything with op amps with less than 1% accuracy as far as gain or frequency. But you do need somebody like HP bakin the chips I guess.
