Adam Lambert reminds me of Kurt Russel as Elvis Presley. ;c)

:LMAO: I thought Elvis also.
There is a lot of talk about him being gay. I say so what. Really, why should that even matter.
His performance last night was probably my least favorite of everything he's done, but I still think he is fantastic. I realise it was Disco night and that in itself would make a lot of the songs sound corny to me.
I think Lil and Noop are going home tonight. Lil just doesn't get it. You'd think after watching performances from everyone else she'd realise she needs to make songs her own. Danny has a bit of trouble with that too. He's lucky his voice makes him stand out as something different.
My top 3 - Danny, Adam and Allison

I was so taken by this song (Mad World) a couple of weeks ago when Karen started this thread that I bought it (just as a 99c download), learned it, and did it once in my club.
It bombed.
I didn't think I did that bad on it. *sigh* I guess they're used to me doing just uptempo stuff.
Oh well. At least I've got it now.

I love watching AI and have to admit I can't wait to hear what Adam's going to do. I know Ring of Fire wasn't everyones cup of tea, but I thought it was amazing.
I'm actually not worried about him winning because he'll have a record contract regardless. I just can't wait to see what he does after AI. I think he'll have a huge career.

Seriously, Babs ( btw, glad to see your name back on here!) - I wonder if it wouldn't be better for his career if he DIDN'T win the whole thing. Either way, he is a phenom. I am SO in love with his stage presence. Good on Allison for not batting out tonight. I was not surprised with the outcome tonight. It's going to get gritty in the next few weeks.
BTW, not really impressed with F. Payne - she sounded so out of breath. T. Houston was a much better performer. I was thinking that Simon might have told David A that he chose the wrong song!

Karen thank you for sharing this with us. I have not had time to tune in to this season of AI as I have been busy with work and we are building a new home.
All I can say is WOW this guy is amazing. I went to AI's site and watched all the videos of his performances to date. I have no doubt this guy will win it all.

Karen
I'm so glad Allison and Matt are still in it. The ones that are left are all so good. I truly believe the people left are the ones that should be there.
I couldn't wait last night to see the results show. I came home from my show and watched it at 2am. I got a kick out of watching them dance.

I just read this thread, and not being an AI watcher, but I've been doing both Jules and Fears' versions of the song. Now when I do it again post AI I hope no one thinks I'm doing that song cuz of the show. Please keep me informed when anyone sings hard alt rock songs so I can change my repoitre.

Ouch! What was that slamming noise I just heard? Hey, if you haven't had a chance, go on line and listen to Adam Lambert do Mad World. I've heard others sing it - it's a great song, but somehow this kid has the ability to transform any song he does. Don't deny yourself the opportunity to hear someone sing a song really well because it happens to be on network television. 40 million people can't all be wrong.
(Hey, nothing worse than a convert is there? I refused to watch the show for years because I didn't like what i heard/saw originally - allowing people to make aXX's of themselves...but in the run-up to the finals, it is very edifying to watch these people strut their talent, watch their performing abilities grow, and to listen to the judges' comments. There is something we can all learn on this platform if we allow ourselves.)

Kudos to Adam Lambert. Adam is good enough to shove Steven Tyler off the stage and hit the high scream in "Dream On".
But my money is on Danny Gokey. Danny's Wife died before the show started and to be able to perform with that on your shoulders is amazing! I always root for the underdog. I guess going to NC State drilled that in me. Coach Valvano always said to "never give up".
Can't wait for "Rock Night".

We saw what the judges can do to skew the voting by suggesting Alison would probably not last - everybody abandoned their Adam voting, believing he was safe, and voted for Alison. Watch in the next few weeks what the judges' say and how it affects the voting. I believe AL will be miles ahead in first place - if the judges don't give him too much credit and cause the same kind of voting shenanigans last week. Gokey is amazingly good but just doesn't have the 'flare' that AL does. I know that the little girls LOVE Kris but he is married - now we know groupies don't give a darn about that, but it is the voting that makes the difference. So, hmmmm, I say Adam, Danny, and a real close call between Alison and Kris....could be totally wrong but I guess I'm just calling it likes I sees it.

Karen you hit the nail on the head !
I saw it coming - People tend to get off their butts and vote when they think someone good is going to be eliminated and don't vote for the person they think is already safe. I think that is why Chris Daughtery didn't make it all the way. I thought it was a terrific idea by the show to give the judges the power to save someone. If Adam was voted off last week they would have been kicking themselves for not waiting to use the save. Adam at least deserves to be in the finals. I'm hoping to see Alison, Adam and Danny in the final 3.

Rock night disappointed me. Maybe my expectations were to high.
I loved Alison and Adam's duet that made the night for me. I disagree with Simon that Adam may have saved Alison with the duet. I think Alison saved Alison with the duet. She showed she was just as good.
Danny - I think he took on the wrong song. I agree it was nice to see him challenge himself, but yuck. I kept catching myself squirming in my seat wanting to help him hit those notes.
I think it is time to see Chris go. It will be interesting to see if the young girls voting will keep him in. I believe he's good, but not as good as the others.

This performance illustrates why I love doing duets with a great singer. When you're in sink with the other singer, the energy is palpable.
Exactly why I sometimes keep myself at the top of the rotation in my show... when an opportunity to do a powerful duet with one of the better singers there comes, I take full advantage of it.
No, KJs aren't "performers" but if you really can do it, then do it with someone else and cater to your non-singers in the bar ... They will love you for it. (no really).
I'm with Paula, they definately fed off one another.
I have to say, this is the first AI year that I have been the least bit interested... I can listen to great singing all the time (and do so for a living ).
Great performances are rare, and there have been an abundance of those this season.

I agree Babs - It's time for Kris to go - he's a great 'crooner' but the world is full of those kind of singers - I have a few that come to my shows, in fact. I believe Alison is going to be a powerhouse as she gets older - I just sit mesmerized thinking that she is a babe in arms still at age 17. Amazing. I love the rapport she and Adam share - he did give her a great platform to do her best singing when they did that duet. What a couple!
Danny G is a great singer as well but again perhaps not as multi-dimensional as Adam. Adam brings excitement to singing again, which is something that has been missing.
Be interesting to see what happens tonight - Simon skewed the voting when he said that he felt Alison wasn't going to make it - putting Adam in the bottom 3 last week. What he said last night may have just ticked off the 'underdoggers' enough that Kris will actually make it through. I'm thinking Kris is going to say goodbye tonight.
It's going to really get down and dirty now - but I believe Adam will prevail. May be #2 Alison #3 Gokey or the other way around for 2nd and 3rd. Either way, Adam will have an amazing career. Hubby, lead singer in a really great band, and a great singer in his own right, laughed and said there'll be bands all over the place on their knees begging Adam to sing lead for them.

Boo Hoo Alison is gone ! I'm disappointed even though I knew she wouldn't win. Once again the voters voted for the person Simon put down, Chris.
"No doubt" was cool. I wish they'd have more performances like that. I thought Paula did well, but was oddly irritated that she performed. She is still promoting her song from last yr? We had to sit through the video last yr on AI. I would have rather watched her dance to someone elses song.

Once again the judges' comments influence/skew the voting. Who needs sominex tonight for sleep? We have Danny G and Kris....thank all the little tweeners and teeny boppers for that. They love Kris. Alison will have a career regardless.

The masses got it wrong this week. Danny Gokey, can't call him Danny G cause that's been my stage name since 1989, should have been the one who went home, Not allison. He totally blew it with Dream on while Allison was spot on with her performance. C'mon america this is a singing contest not a popularity one.
