Right now for me it's "Boom Boom Pow". I know that for most KJs in this forum something like this would be insanity, but it's the kind of thing that my home room loves and responds well to.

That and the fact that it's been the top single in the US for several weeks and gets played incessantly in DJ rooms made me just have to do it.

This is actually kind of fun. The Fergie parts are really cool. The download is spot on and covers most of the processed vocals.

Anyway - working on anything? Or have you recently and it's been going over well?

BEPs were on Idol finale show last night and did Boom Boom Pow. Not something I'd ever try and learn! Good for you! Your room thrives on that kind of stuff - wish mine did, might inspire me more to try it.

I've been playing around with Spanish songs. San Jose has a large Hispanic population, and they love it when a white boy gives it a try. Picked up an old Linda Ronstadt cassette of Cuban songs, and am learning "Perfidia."

PS Took Spanish in high school. Don't always understand the words, but my pronunciation is half-decent. It's a beautiful language to sing in.

I LOVE "Caciones de Mi Padre" by her! I should get off my duff and learn some!

Perhaps sometime you can listen to me do PITBULL's "KULO" (reggaeton) , singing BOTH the english and spanish parts. Crowd is SHOCKED that a fat middle-aged white guy and get up and SLAM OUT a song like that!! 8) :D :D

Ive tried to learn DADDY YANKEE's "GASOLINA", but the espanol is simply too too fast.

I'd really like to find some really good CUBAN Salsa or Son to sing but dont know whats out there for that.

I also do a very nice rendition of the Pocket Songs version of VOLARE. Fluent Italian on the italian sections(having lived in Naples, Italy for 4 years).

Songs that segue to falsetto or yodeling. Wicked Game, Fall, Five O'Clock World. As a new singer, falsetto doesn't really work for me yet. I am told to practice it a little but not a lot every day.

I just had to learn the song "At Last" for a wedding. I sang it for the bride and groom dance. It was a surprise for the groom. He kept staring at me funny when I was singing. After he told me he kept looking at me to see if it was really me singing or was I lip sinking. LMAO I'm no Etta James, but I tried to do my best.

I don't sing that much any more during karaoke. I have to many singers, so I've lost a bit of interest in learning new songs. Once in a while I'll learn a duet because one of the regulars wants it. "Broken" is probably next on my list.

Love Head East. Wish I could get more of their stuff but people wouldn't recognize any of the others.

My list that works with my voice to get things humpin or crowd interaction:

Hard to be Humble
Strokin'
Shout
Minnie the Moocher
Family Tradition
Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo

Head East, wow next thing you know we'll be talking about Legs Diamond! Great band and they actually played here in our little town of Victoria.

I am working on Seether's Careless Whisper and have recently added a few other songs to my repertoire.

The Calling - Wherever you will go
Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta
Lifehouse - Hanging by a moment
Jet - Look what you've done
The Isely Bro's - Who's that lady
INXS - The One thing

A few others, mostly been trying to learn some more somewhat recent songs. Majority of songs I know are from late 90's on down. Rudy.

Duets are wonderful. I've picked up the Tim McGraw/ Faith Hill duet, "Like We Never Loved at All" purely by accident... ladies hear me sing, and then ask me if I know it... it kept happening, so I made the effort. It was worth it! :D

The first couple times I tried it, it wasn't the best, but I realised I could get it with practice... just needed to get the timing with the other singer better. Well, one of my regulars asked me to do it last night, and we were right on point with that song. We have done duets together many times, but it was the first time for that one.

The bar went NUTS... applauding and cheering in the middle. That song ends powerfully with sequential sustained high notes from each singer, and we both NAILED it... everyone was saying, "that was amazing" etc... really got the warm fuzzies on that one. :D

Well I never did my new song last night (Thurs). I opened up with the moldy oldie "Bad Company" and turned the night over to the room.

It was just slammed. Everyone getting one night in town before heading out for what looks to be the best weather we've had on Memorial weekend in the PNW in years. The Big Round (what we call the one that starts around 11) didn't end until after 1.

It's gorgeous out there right now. I imagine tonight and Sat will be slow. :( So I'll get plenty of chances to sing unfortunately.

Love "Never Been Any Reason" Ripman. Used to sing it in a band. Never tried in in karaoke though - I don't think I even have it currently. So you just gave me an

Been struggling with "My Life Would Suck Without U" trying not to have the chorus be shrill and obnoxious. Didn't have to inflict it on anyone however as we had a crowd too. Got to sub for the Friday hosts who always get twice the people we do. Wasn't sure if the crowd would turn up for us or be on vacation or heeding the news and staying home to avoid the swine flu. But they came and we had 15-20 people in the rotation at any given time. Also got in a KJ from the "big city" who gave us some leads on jobs and took a card because she wanted to "talk us up" to someone. We expect to be back to dead tonight but it was fun to get to have a "real" show for a change and have other KJs say nice things.

I've sung a few Spanish songs. A few of my favorites are:

Desden ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbhUQfSUwD8 )

Besame Mucho (the Pioneer laser version is great)

Quierme Tal Como Soy (learned this from Herb Alpert's Fandango recording, here is the refrain, a little higher pitch I think than normal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJG-K3hsMks)

Eres Tu ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfX-KSbfIz0 )

What am I working on? Today I was listening to Taco's Puttin on the Ritz. Then I watched the Fred Astaire version ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j02k9t4rP50 does that cane levitate in the middle??).

Then I listened to Paul McCartney and Wings ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRCgueckAXE ). For some reason the song sounds a lot like Paul McCartney meets the Miami Sound Machine, no? I mean, I could see Gloria Estefan singing that song!

You know the song is actually 2 singers, I just change voice to falseto a bit for the 2nd singer. That song was made for a kick Azz system, it just oozes of pure rock. Group came from Peoria Illinois. Another song I wish was in karaoke was Love Me Tonight. Don't know if I would sing in public as most wouldn't know it.
