What are some suggestions to fighting sun-glare ?
I just played a gig outside last Sunday on an outside tiki bar
The SUNGLARE was so bad I could not see my laptop screen?
The manager called and wants me every Sunday ..thats the good news
What about the SUN-GLARE

The last few years I've been hired to Emcee a Pig Wrestling competition at a festival run by one of my regular bars (yes that's right, pig wrestling!!). Basically it consists of playing a theme song for each wrestling team, announcing the teams ring announcer style and then playing music while they wrestle the pig and put it back in the pen afterward. To deal with the sun (both for the display and to protect the laptop from direct sunlight) I made a small visor out of black foam board. It looks pretty professional and definitely got the job done. It is very light weight which is nice for transport but be aware you'll need a way to anchor it if there's any wind.

One word. CANOPY! Whenever I have an outside gig I insist on it.... be it a private affair or a bar.
Sunglare is only one reason. A sudden rain is another. Lastly, YOU don't need to be in the sun for four hours either.
I also have a high speed fan that I run to keep the air moving... not only for me, but the equipment as well.

This was a funny thread to come across..... as I sit here outside my local library using their wireless, turning my laptop this way n' that to cut down on the glare I'm getting on my screen.
Cool. I'm gonna have to get me one of those thingees:)

Mine does fine inside. But I'm in the midst of moving, so I had all my services (cable, internet, blah blah) already disconnected. So for now I just drive the few blocks to the library to get online with my laptop. I should be home finishing packing actually.
(can't go inside, i'm sitting out here in my car in my jammies with my hair in a ponytail, people might stare...... Lol)

Jam, sorry I don't have pics and it got destroyed shortly after the last gig I used it at. However, jd's link above shows one that is very similar to what I put together. In fact now that I see I can purchase one, I may just do that rather than go through the pain of gluing together more foamboard.

FYI
I tried the COMPUSHADE this Sunday --not impressed.
It help a little ..but not nearly as much as I needed.
I'll have to re position myself some how to get out of the direct sunlight.
This shade may help if not in the DIRECT SUN light .
