It's all about options and offering your singers choices !!

If you have a clientele that is younger and wants the HI TECH songbook kiosks
COOL ...I don't care ..but they are not the end all.

Now you give me a TABLET size computerized songbook that is indestructable and can send requests to my laptop wirelessly and be able to update via download from my computer ..NOW THAT WILL IMPRESS ME ..oh and the cost has to be affordable

Why do you say 'no one' wants to sort through a book?

Well, did you come to read the book or did you come to party? That's why I said "no one really ...."

If I am by myself, I prefer to sit & peruse a book while waiting for my next turn & figuring out what I may want to sing - so YES there ARE people that enjoy looking through the book. If i'm with a group, sometimes it's a good escape to start looking through the book. I don't go to necessarily 'party', I don't get sloppy drunk - especially now days.

People like to browse which is why the vast majority of our book (15 Title A-L, 15 Title L-Z, and the same for Artists) are out most nights and on weekends they are usually all out. Even at the end of the night people are still browsing them. Which is why before going to kiosks, I would look at notebooks which are protected (both electronically and physically) before getting huge kioks.

Them horseless carriages will never make it. Most prefer the feel of a saddle.

Can do everything but the indestructable part depending on how big your tablet is.

Yeah, one thing about horses, they can get to a lot more places than cars. Try to drive up the side of the Grand Canyon. LOL.

ROFL Some places turn the lights down and for your books to be ledgible need big pint which means big books. Even old might prefer a kiosk. I could use either one.

Can't copyright that  Besides i've had those in the past as well. They clip on to the key chain. But I could never find them cheap enough so I could make any profit so I quit selling them.

True, they may be uncomfortable at first but they'will get over it. If you have been in the karaoke business for a while it is likely that you have 10,000 songs or more. How long would it take someone to read 10,000 titles? At one title per second, three hours and change. Have you seen anyone sit over your books for three hours and change. Shouldn't they be spending that time drinking?

One kiosk will replace five books. Instant updates. No printing costs.

Try it you'll like it.

Yes, I have. No, they won't. Yes, they DO want to sort through books and browse for songs, AND take their time doing it with no pressure from a line behind them.

Of all the complaints that I have heard about ANYONE'S show, the number one point agreed upon ( even in this forum full of people that disagree) is in regard to a lack of books, or even books that do not include Mfr. numbers. I am talking about shows where the ages run from 21 up.

As a matter of fact, one reason I got my Wednesday show in a place that caters to 35 and under was do to exclusive kiosk use by the predecessor- the "KIDS" hated them.

Sorry weed, I've known you a long time, and don't mean to bust, but at best, kiosks can be used in conjunction with books-not replace them. But then, why would I bother? To carry and maintain both?

Not to worry Joe. I'm not offended if someone disagrees with me. It just means that they have data I don't. Disagreement is the heart of learning.

True, true, true..... Not every venue will go for a kiosk...

However, just to set the record straight from here (and with the appropriate balance of opposite opinion)...

We have successfully used kiosks at all our regular club shows for the last 4 years with no problems to speak of...

With that said, you won't want to use one at a company picnic, or for the most part a private party. However in the clubs it has worked fabulously for us... even at the one place with the "much older" crowd that we jokingly call "Menopause Manor."
