I joined because I'm frustrated with certain KJ's having some songs I like and not others. Also wanted to know what is the best way to legally create karaoke songs? I'm sure this isn't the correct forum, but I would appreciate someone directing me to the best place to get my question answered.

By the way I've been singing karaoke for 4 years now. I have a couple of regular spots in the Wash. D.C. area and beyond. I have been a hip hop artist for most of my youth. Not that I'm old. I'm only 29, but I'm past the I want to get rich and famous phase. So I sing karaoke to keep the performer part of me satisfied. I like to sing country and Rock, which surprises a lot of people because of my hip hop background.

Hi Wyll

I'd try the tech forum. I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do. If you want to start your own business reproducing CDGs to sell you're looking at getting copy right permission ect.. If this is for personal use only it may be a different story, I'm not sure. Good luck ! and welcome to the site.

It is for personal use, but I would also like to share with the local KJ's that i know. (It's just not as fun singing to myself in my basement) So I'm probably interested in copy right stuff. I just feel like I'm at the mercy of the major disc developers to tell me what I can and cannot sing. It does sound like a decent business venture if it isn't that difficult to get an copy right agreement in place with publishers.

But I really don't think I'm bright enough to come up with this idea before someone else, so it's probably too difficult.

Check out the Discussion Forum. There is a discussion about producing CDGs. It is called: Preferences, Backing Vocals, Starts and Endings".
