The only advantage I could see of buying three way cabinets would be the ability to use them on there own in smaller situations. If your always going to be using a sub, a two way would be just fine with a 12 being preferred to a 15.

Whay do you mean by "12 preferred to a 15"? The PRX 525 is two 15's. Thanks so much for your knowledge.

12" is a little better for vocal reproduction. Considered a midrange in the PA world. 15" is still good for vocals, although with the deeper bass response, can get a little more muddy but can also sound better in smaller rooms without a sub & still have a good amount of 'thump' where as a 12" won't typically give as good of a bass response.

It looks like Lonnie got motivated earlier than I did today and pretty much summed it up but seeing how I already had it typed out I will post it anyway.
Using a 15 in the upper cabinet has always been a compromise type thing. The 15 is obviously better at supplying the lower frequencies than a 12 but at the same time you loose a little clarity as the 12 is superior at reproducing frequencies in the mid section where most of the music and vocals reside. If you are going to be using subs to cover the lower region there would be no need to make this compromise.

Just to make sure Im choosing the right Speaker between PRX 525 or 535. I now have two QSC 18" powered subs and going to use them with either the 525 or 535. Is it a better fit with the subs to use the PRX525 2 way speaker instead of the PRX535 3 way speaker? Thanks

If you are going to be using subs then without a doubt the PRX535 would be the speaker you would want to use. The PRX525 adds the second 15 to try an enhance the lower frequencies which you will already have covered by the QSC subs. You will find that with the PRX535 you will have a more defined mid section. You should notice a definite difference in clarity also. I see the are giving away a Driverack PX with the purchase of a pair of PRX's, not a bad deal.

Thanks so much London, Just so I understand you correctly go with the 535 3 way if Im using the Subs? The only reason I wanted to clarify is because of the other response that only use three way speakers if Im going to use them alone and use two way if Im using subs. Im sure Im reading into it incorrectly. Thanks again.

Sometimes I even confuse myself. I'm just not a fan of the size and shape of the cabinets of either the 525 or the 535. They are just harder to maneuver and arrange when compared to a more conventional design. Now if we are only talking sound quality, then technically when you stack your three way on top of your sub you have a four way system, which when dialed in properly is hard to beat. I use a four way system myself and the clarity and definition is nothing short of amazing. The bottom line is, if you are going to "either" get PRX525's "or" PRX535's I would go with the 535. You will probably hear things in your mix that you didn't even know were there.
