Hi,
My name is Susie and I'm new here, so hello. I joined this forum to help my friend out. He has been trying to copy the cd and cdg files on his pc to a Vocopro Media Jukebox and is having problems. He is using the old copy and paste method, and the operation starts as it should, but after 50 or 60 songs, he gets an error message, the f: drive (the vocopro) path disappears and everything stops. It says that the device cannot be found. Then, if you disconnect and reconnect the Vocopro, the 50 songs show up in the Jukebox. If you try to continues and copy and paste again (choosing the option to merge the contents of c: and f:) the same things happen...........an additional 50 ot 60 songs, an error message and the Vocopro path vanishes. This can go on endlessly and I'm ready to tear my hair out trying to help him. He's got thousands of songs, so 50 or 60 at a time isn't going to cut it. He says that seeral people have had the same problem when trying to help him and by the way, it has happened with two different Vocopros and two different laptops! Freaky, no?
Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated. He is using HP laptops (both less than 2 years old) which are both running Vista.
Thanks
Susie

I would venture to say that not too many here are familiar with that specific piece of equipment. You may be better off trying to inquire direct to VOCOPRO service department or if they have any forums etc.

Thanks, I already tried that. They were no help at all. Maybe someone can suggest another forum as I'm not really all that informed about the karaoke community in general. Walt said it was a fairly common device. Maybe he's wrong.

Common where? I've never seen one to my knowledge. If Google can't find you a forum, it probably doesn't exist. I have never seen a question about that device here.
You need to find someone smart and savvy to take a look at it. Unfortunately, those kind of people are hard to find. They are really hard to find unless you pay them.

Rather than using the copy and paste method, which on high number multiple selections, things can go wrong, I would suggest trying another method of file transfer. Here is a link to a product that I use to keep my drive and 2 backup drives in sync and it works great and is free.

Good luck.

That's great advice.......and it makes sense to me. When he told me he wanted to copy 9000 or so songs, i jsut said "....uh, ok". I'll let you know how it works for us. Thanks so much

Ok, I've got one of the old 40 gig jukeboxes and didn't have any problem bulk copying AVI files but when I tried to do a mass copy of my MP3+G DK discs I had the same problem. I was able to copy about 25 complete disks at a time (18 songs per disc) before it would quit. Really strange.
Anyhow, has he converted all his songs to AVI files or is he copying BIN or MP3+G files to the jukebox? If the latter two, he's wasting his time as the Jukebox software will ONLY recognize AVI files for the stand alone karaoke player. (They could have changed the format since I bought mine but I don't think they have.)
If he wants to do a show he's better off with a laptop and regular hosting software, as the jukebox while a good idea doesn't do the job well in practice. I think the best use would be to put the songs you like sing on it and take that to a show rather than a bunch of discs (and that's assuming you could plug it into the hosts system).

KarenB, is right, the new one works the same as the old. Files need to already be converted to AVI.

Karen, thanks for the reply. Yes, all his files are AVI files. I think I'm going to direct him to this forum so he can look at some of your replies. He's a little new at this and would probably benefit from everyone's expertise.
And I think I'll look up Robdog if I can find him. Thanks all.
