Those earphones you see are called "in-ear monitors" and are used so the singer can hear their OWN voice over the band. What the audience hears is rarely what the people performing hear on stage.

I'm a firm believer that 99% of people can learn to sing competently. First, they have to learn to
listen so they can hear relative pitches in a melody, then learn to use their voice to reproduce those pitches. You're taking the first steps, and I bet you're getting better all the time. Try a few songs without the guide vocals.
