Karaoke Forums

This forum is phpbb2. 3 looks and functions very differently. I'm guessing that it is integrated with other parts of the site? In which case it will be quite heavily modified, so an update might be quite a task.

I'm inclined to agree with you however loooking at the page sourse of the the footer I see a phpbb copyright of 2009. As far as integration with SS or other features I dont think that is much of a factor as theme. This theme is charcoall3steel. I dont know it that was crosswebtrch's theme or even if they still maintain this forum. If the forum needs be shifted back to subsilver temporarily to update to 3.0 then it should be done.

Mods can be then applied to a clean data base and in the process the inactive membership issue can be straithened up a bit. With my limited experience and knowledge it would be a major project although eventually I could do it. Perhaps a joint effort could be launched and a new update theme could be worked on in a separate folder and the bugs worked out.

I think the hardest part would be trimming the database of it's archaic crap

I think KS has been doing a great job up till now keeping out the spam. It isn't til just recently there has been a big problem again. The spammers are always finding new ways to sneak in and I'm sure it is a headache for Phill. He'll figure the latest problem out. He always does.

Yeah that and I am the only other one that can move these at this time. I need a couple more people to help. At least it isn't the 'porn' spam we were getting a couple years back.

I volunteered elsewhere after I heard there was a shortage of volunteers. I am a frequent visitor and could easily get a lot of spam. Being on eastern time, I am also going to be showing up many hours earlier than the typical West Coast karaoke host.

I used to make templates for it. It is still based on phpbb2 so a fair amount of the code & the template engine is still the same so it might be easier to re-integrate with other existing scripts. I have used it for a few sites since 2004. The security is pretty bullet proof, never once had a robot get through!

Lon has been a real trooper and extremely helpful.

I have asked a few others but they have declined being "Mods"

I really only need them to be able to assist Lon in deleting the SPAM rarely are you called on to actually resolve situations between members - that is for the administration of the site to handle.
