I download a lot of chinese karaoke music videos & they are in the many formats: mpg, mpeg, dat, etc.
I wanted to know if there's a program that can turn my computer into something like those karaoke machines.
Like I know that I won't be able to have a controller where we enter numbers and that number is a song, but if there is one where you can just enter number using the keyboard and then the song plays?
Anything to make it easier for me to enjoy karaoking.

Currently I'm connecting my computer to the tv using a SV cable, and I have this other plug where the sound of the music video comes out of the tv, and then I have a separate machine that has a microphone plug so I can sing into it and the sounds come out from the speakers. So basically it's almost like an actual karaoke machine except selecting songs using a media player on the computer is a hassle since I need to look through the playlist to look for a song I want.

If you going to keep downloading DIFFERENT formats, your going to keep having the same problems. There's no 'Universal Karaoke Player' that plays ALL formats!

Seek out Converters to change them to the Same Format and your problem is solved.
Once they're the same format, you have Many Options!

Check MTU Hoster, it plays many of the video formats.

Just a suggestion...

For Home Use:
Replace you TV speakers with much better ones...
They can't handle the vocals!
It's only a matter of time before the go out!

lol none of your replies answered my question, but yes I use KMPlayer and that plays all the files, no problem with that.
I just wanted to know if there's a program that is also like the KMPlayer but has functions that are easy to use like finding songs by typing in numbers like the actual karaoke machines where you enter the number of the song using a remote. So then I wouldn't have to look through the playlist just to find the song I want to sing.

Winamp. It has a great media library, to search for and queue up songs, , it automatically supports numerous media formats, and it is free.

If you need more, like rotaion control, singer histories and all that, the AutoKDJ plugin for Winamp is also free and is QUITE nice. I have run shows off of that alone for close to three years now.

I see, I was looking around for this MTU program, looks like there's many great reviews on it but it costs money =/
Is there any other free available programs similar to MTU?

Siglos will import MPG, AVI and WMV files so if your files are any of those then yes there is one software that you can search for your songs as you would search for your cdg files. It's not free but it is closer to free than Hoster.

You will not find any better for free than Winamp, as already mentioned above.
