Mr. Scott might be referring to those not so obvious areas in between a hard drive and Wal Mart--like a Dangerous set off of EBay or Sweet Georgia Browns that many here say have to be copies yet they are sold by major sellers like Ace. It's hard to know what is pure these days.

yes but buying a disc from Wal-Mart for a reasonable retail price is different than buying a harddrive with 50,000+ songs on it for a ridiculously low price($400-1,000). Anyone with any brains should realize it is not legitimate.

Yes, and that's already been pointed out. It's reasonable to assume that a disc you buy from a retailer is legal, but it's NOT reasonable to assume that such hard drives are legal.
The law is such that it will absolve you of any blame as long as you act in a REASONABLE manner.
Buying a disc for a "normal" or close to "normal" price is reasonable.
Buy a loaded hard drive for even $2000.00 is not.

Hmmmm. That sounds vaguely familiar.

Since I am not reproducing, selling for a profit or distributing cd's I am in no way responsible for copyright laws.I buy cd's and I play them. The legality rests squarely upon the shoulder of those making the cd's not mine.
