If it was something I really wanted I may pay up to $10 for a single track. On average I pay about $3-4 per song via custom tracks.

Lets try this again. My first reply didn't come up so I hope this doesn't double reply.

Good pole question,

I picked no more than $3, but I think I should have chosen $5

I don't download songs, I buy disks. I won't buy a disk unless there are at least three songs I'll sing with a couple of maybes. Since it's basically just for me, I couldn't justify it. If I were a KJ, that would be different.

But what I'm diggin' now, Chartbuster will now let you make your own disk. With a $5 disk charge and $2 per song, you can create your own disk up to 10 songs. I haven't tried it yet. I'm only up to 8 songs picked.

I picked $5, but after rethinking, if it was a song for me to sing that no other karaoke joint around me had and I really, really, really wanted to be able to sing it, I would go up to $25.
A song like that can bring such fullfillment to ones soul that even $25 would be a bargain.

I put $30 but only because long ago I wanted to sing Jimmy Buffet's "Volcano" as my first karaoke attempt and I ended up buying the entire Jimmy Buffett Sound Choice disc at that price just for that song. That was around 8 years ago and I just replaced it (at about $10 less) because it gets a bit of play at our shows and was just plain worn out. Now I'd say my top price is $4 because that is the most expensive custom price of all I buy. But if someone were to come out with something really raredand beloved like some Dar Williams songs then I might be tempted to be stupid but happy agian.

Now again, If I could find Sweet Painted Lady by Elton John (not midi) I would go as high as $50

for a custom track that I can have basically "homemade' with my own lyrics and not for a personal show, but me as a customer... I'd pay $25 or so.

I paid $75 for an 11 song disc of Alice In Chains before anyone really knew what SBI & selectatrack were. I've had these songs in my library since 05 - actually one of my heaviest used discs so it wasn't a waste & I had these songs before ANYONE in our area & the people that wanted to sing it somehow found out about it (didn't hurt that I emailed all my contacts too). I think it broke down to about $6.81 per track.

I'd Pay up to $25 for a song that I really had to have but not if it was gonna be for sale to everyone else after I paid the premium for having it made. I hate to think about all of the discs I've bought for just one song. SBI and other sites save people a lot of money. I bought every Springsteen song from SBI that no other manufacturer makes. I wish they even had more of them. I'd buy them all.

I recently paid $22.95USD plus shipping for SC9002 because I wanted the song "Women" by Def Leppard to add to my Def Leppard collection. Yes, I got the other songs as well, but I would not have bought them otherwise. I consider that I paid that much for the one song and got the others as a bonus. Had they not been included, I still would have paid that much. Would I do it for anything else? Most likely not. The most I would pay would probably be $3 per song.

I said $50, but I would only pay this for a VERY hard to find song.

The most I have paid so far was $20 for the SC CD+G with Baltimora's Tarzan Boy on it.

I can usually pay $15 or less for a CD+G when it is a single song I want.

I voted for $10, but I might be willing to go $25 for something I REALLY wanted and like you say, doesn't suddenly become mass-available. Maybe if a song you want done gets done, then the karaoke company would you subsequently give you a discount on a few of their more standard songs...?

see, and I was the opposite when it came to the song "Women"... I bought it on a custom disc, and it was $5 a song that way... no filler.

Now in the long run, those fourteen songs might have added a flavor to my library... but now I'm at the point where I won't arbitrarily just add songs for the sake of just having them out there!

What an interesting question. I'd go as high as $10 for a single song I just had to have.

Honestly, at the time, there really wasn't anything else I wanted, even on a custom, so the regular disc was just fine. Saved me having to make the decision of what to put on it! LOL

There have been a number of discs' that I've bought for just one song and then found that for one reason or another I couldn't sing that song. What's funny is that almost every time that's happened I've found two or more songs on the disc that I'd forgotten about and was able to sing.

So yea, I've been known to spend 20 or 30 dollars for a song if I want it bad enough

Personally I would pay up to $25 for a song I wanted that COULD DO NOT BE BOUGHT ANYWHERE ELSE.

Business wise I would not pay anymore than $5 per track for something someone requested. If the singer wanted it that bad they could pay the $25.
Just keeping it real

And that's what the requests are for from your customers... you find a time and a place to begin to build that custom setup! :)

I've gone with $5 per song now in these times I could no longer play my custom discs seeing all the venues have gone to computers. So I'm now saving my $ and telling the kj to download it and after I sing it others would want to do it another day

I checked out those SBI tracks OMG do they sound like crap, not something I want to use at my shows.
