The Breakaway worked great for straight music. I couldn't get it to sync up with the lyrics - slight lag, just enough to throw someone off. Even tried other programs besides Hoster.

In Compuhost you can adjust the lyrics <-> music time. So that shouldn't be an issue.

I tried it here on my Desktop at home andit seems to be perfectly in time without adjustments. Maybe it's related to your processor/sound card power.

You can in Hoster too, just wouldn't sync up. Running Vista on a pretty powerful machine. May be Vista related, it's all I had to work with.

How do you do that?

I confess, I am in fact the sound/technical part of the show. My wife is the host. I pull the music, help customers locate a song (amazing how difficult this becomes for people the later it gets...hiccup :) and run interference when necessary.

Because my job takes me away on travel frequently, I can't always be there to help her out. So the easier I can make things for her in my absence the better. She's never been a technical person and hats off to her, she's come a LONG way. My goal is to eventually transition her show over to pc. One step at a time.

If it becomes too confusing, difficult, stressful, then whats the point?

I ran breakaway at a gig and while I thought it did a great job at first, it also began to create "pops" and "skips" in the music. The longer I played, the worse it got. WHile it was hardly noticeable at first, I was very grateful at the end of the night that everyone was pretty much too drunk to notice. I had it set with the largest buffer size but that still didn't prevent it from happening. As I said, for about the first hour or so it was fine and then slowly got worse over the course of the night. Unfortunate, because I really could have used it and I did like the sound that came out.

How do you do that?
In CompuHost in the Top Menu, go to

File -> System Devices and Options

Within that screen you'll see the System Performance box on the bottom. The first option in there says CDG Playback Sync Timing. Adjust that to your liking.

If you really care about this a great deal, do what Lonman suggested and use a compressor/limiter with a fast attack and very long release time. I have done this before and while it really does suck for songs with any dynamic range, if you are so lazy you can't be bothered to use the fader, it will work.
