I don't want to cover the back wall as I would like to come up with a use for that TV eventually.

Covering the back wall would just clean it up quite a bit then when you get the tv, it goes over the black curtain so the backdrop is still there.

Good point, Lonman. I might do that. Alternately, I could turn on those neon signs, but they are outrageously bright. There used to be red-white-and-blue streamers on the back wall, but when the previous KJ parted ways with this establishment, he said they were his, so we took them down and set them aside for him.

The more I looked at the stage I agree the backwall needs a black curtain.
The area is LARGE and too open for a stage set up. You feel you need to FILL UP the stage but what you really need is to keep the rest of the room from bleeding into the stage area. The TV screen is fine --posters and the neon lights --good for the bar ...bad for a STAGE type enviroment. The stage looks too open like a BASEMENT cellar.

Put a couple of artificial trees ( such as palms) on each side. Add some decorative lighting( like little white twinkling ones).
Hang some of those lights you see around Rv's in parks and campgrounds( Target has a nice sellection) behind the stage up just above the singers heads.
That should make a nice cozy atmoshere.
Don't put any more equipment, in fact see if you can conceal as much equipment as possible so as to have a nice setting where the sound seems to come out of no-where.
Of course you would need some kind of transformation plan that would match the decor to accomadate rowdy type songs. This could be done by different type lighting and a fog machine.

Moving the gear is actually pretty easy. I am 6'0" and about 120 pounds so if I can move it all myself, almost anyone can. ;) I have a good dolly that works upright or flat with all 4 wheels, and a 6x12 trailer with a ramp door. I have loaded in a rig like that by myself in an hour before, but I try to bring someone with me whenever I do mobile gigs to make it go smoother.

I talked to the owner last night about the stage setup for karaoke and he agreed about the trees with Christmas lights and some cardboard figures. We might do more stuff after that but I'm going for a baby step right now. I am going to try to find several strings of lights for each tree in different colors. When I eventually upgrade the rest of my light rig there I can put each color on a DMX outlet and have the trees change color with the rest of the lights.

This is my stage minus my lyrics and singer monitor. Backdrop is already black including the shutter doors that lead to the green room. Very handy!
